Toph smiles, and Sokka fumes inwardly. Well, outwardly. Why the hell did they have to come to this stupid Earth Kingdom town and run into this hippy kid again? Because he really doesn't get it.
It's not like he normally cares if Toph smiles at some ugly ten year old walking down the street, but it starts to cross boundary lines when she stops just to talk to him. And she was yelling at Sokka for walking slowly a few seconds ago!
But maybe even that wouldn't bother him under normal circumstances. Except, Toph.
She definetely, absolutely, certainly likes this kid way more than average.
"It's great to see you again, Ohev!" she says to him. There's a blush on her cheek that Sokka vehemently detests.
"You, too, Toph," he replies, grinning back. "I kept your gift." Ohev holds up a small, heart shaped rock.
"I gave you a space rock," Sokka tells her woundedly. "It's not like you have to go to other sources for affection!" Toph ignores him.
But she's not ignoring Ohev, and once he thanks her for her gift once again, her own grin doubles in size. "So, what have you been up to?"
Sokka interrupts him before he has time to reply. "Sorry to interrupt your little chat...but we have things to do," Sokka growls to Ohev, placing his hand on Toph's shoulder as to gently guide her away. Or drag her kicking and screaming, if need be.
She swats his arm off. "Snoozles, stop interfering," Toph snaps, turning to face Ohev directly.
"But he's right," she says, with sadness that this annoying little ten your old does not deserve. Her voice turns sugary sweet when she adds, in a girly, loving voice that is not Toph at all, "I'm sorry we couldn't hang out for longer, Ohev."
Sokka's eyes widen in horror as Toph leans forward and pecks Ohev on the cheek. "Me, too. But maybe we'll see each other later," Ohev suggests, blushing furiously.
"Yeah!" Toph exclaims, obviously enthusiastic. "That'd be cool. Bye, Ohev."
She turns to walk away. "I'll be there in just a second," Sokka reassures her, and there's a flicker of what has to be smugness on her face before Toph's expression is indifferent once again.
As soon as she's out of earshot, Ohev sighs happily. "She's sure one heck of a girl," he smiles.
Yeah, Sokka thinks sudddenly. She sure is.
Maybe, if he can see it, too, Ohev isn't so bad after all...
"I know we'll meet again," Ohev says certainly.
Sokka glares, and tells the kid to go screw himself.
A/N: Sokka's so CUTE when he's jealous! And yes, in case you didn't realize it, I really...really...REALLY don't like Ohev. :P Hope you enjoyed. :3
