I do not own Naruto in anyway. All of the legends are based on true urban legends.

I do not own the legends either.

The Bloody Rain

It was almost noon on a hot day in the beginning of July. For a little over six hours, the slaves have been working in the sandstone fields of the Kazakage farm in the Hidden Sand Village. Gaara, the Kazekage, was entertaining his brother, Kankuro, on the verandah when several field hands came running up to the house in panic. As they grew closer, Gaara and Kankuro could see splotchs of what looked like blood on the men's skin and clothes.

At first, the men were too worked up and out of breath to tell a coherent story. But finally one of them blurted out, "It's raining flesh and blood in the sandstone fields!"

The field hands described how a large red cloud had mysteriously appeared over them and covered the field with a gory rain. Although they were skeptical, Gaara and Kankuro followed the slaves back to the field and waded into the tall rows of rock formations. To their amazement, they saw the stone faces covered with dark read stains. Scattered on the ground were small whitish and grayish fragments that resembled freash meat.

"It could be a hoax," Kankuro said. "But just to be sure, let's collect some samples and take them over to the university in Konoha for analysis."

Gaara sent one of the field hands back to the house for two large cloth sacks. In one they put a few dozen stained rocks. In the other they put several handfuls of the fleshlike scraps. As they carried the bags of the samples out of the fields, both men tried to ignore the putrid smell rising from the bag of fragments.

At the house, they washed up, then packed some things and walked to Konoha.

The laboratory of Konoha's Central University's science department was housed in a handsome stone building on Shinobi Hill. Gaara and Kankuro found the chairman of the science department, Professer Tsunade, told her their story and produced ther two sacks.

"That's a wild story gentlemen," Professor Tsunade said. "Come back tomorrow and I will give you the results then."

"We don't belive it rained flesh and blood in my sandstone field," Gaara said, "but I would be obliged if you would analyze these sample for me."

"It will take a few hours to run the test," the fifth Hokage said.

"If it's all the same to you, Professor," Kankuro said, "we'll wait."

A few hours later, a student found Gaara and Kankuro walking about the campus and invited them to join the Fifth in her office. They found the professor standing beside her desk, looking uneasy.

"Well, gentlemen, I confess that I am perplexed by the results of my analysis," she said.

Gaara and Kankuro kept silent, so Professor Tsunade countinued.

"The red stains on the stones are most certainly blood." The Fifth paused for a moment before speaking again." And those fragments are human flesh."

Kankuro seemed taken aback and turned his gaze to his brother. Gaara looked back at the older male and simply stated, "Don't look at me, I didn't do anything."

On the walk home, the two men discussed the proffesors anaylsis.

" I still say it's a hoax," Kankuro said.

"If I were a superstitious man," Gaara said, "I'd say this rain was a bad omen."

Before long, Gaara's instincts proved to be correct. The next day, both Gaara and Kankuro received telegrams announcing that thier sons han been killed while on a mission to the Sound.
