Just a lil fic with a hint of Rossi and JJ based on a song by Tracy Byrd called "she was smart". I heard the song, and I couldn't help but think it had David Rossi's name written ALL OVER IT! Enjoy!
I own nothing
David Rossi had no idea what he was doing. He liked to keep an air of mystery about him, asserting some dominance above his team. He never, NEVER, let on about his personal life, but for some reason, tonight was an exception. Here he was a a bar with his co-workers in some godforsaken town spouting a story about his last romantic escapade.
"Ok, keep going," one Emily Prentiss urged. Rossi took a deep breath. He still had no idea what was going through his mind when he started this story. He resigned himself to blaming exhaustion. They had been working for the past week non-stop trying to solve the latest case.
"Where was I?" he sighed, conceding defeat.
"You'd just asked her out," Reid provided.
"Right, so I started complimenting her at every possible oppertunity," Rossi started again.
"Ew, that's so cheesy," JJ laughed, crinkleling her nose. Rossi rolled his eyes.
"ANYWAY, I was also sending her roses at the most unexpected times and buying her jewelry whenever I saw fit," he added.
"Often, I'm sure," Hotch mused. Rossi sent him a dark glare.
"If you all want to hear the end of the story, the peanut gallery will have to shut up," Rossi warned. After they all settled down again, he continued. "So one night I pulled up to her apartment in this long black limousine. She climbed in and I told her I was treating her to the best of everything for the night, "he paused a grimaced slightly at the memory of all the charm he was oozing at that particular moment in his life. "I was so disgustingly charming that looking back now, I'm not surprised she did what she did next," he mentioned quickly.
"Which was?" Morgan was curious.
"She slid right back out of the limo and went back upstairs," Rossi shrugged.
"What?!" Penelope Garcia gasped. "She had it made, getting pampered by a handsome suave gentleman," she added.
"She just left you there?" Emily double checked.
"Yep, sitting there like a fool," Rossi confirmed.
"Why?" JJ asked.
"She was smart," Rossi stated simply. Hotch chuckled. It was a typical David Rossi response.
"What do you mean?" Reid was confused.
"She knew I was trouble from the second I asked her out, and I know there was part of her hoping I would prove her wrong, but she wasn't going to wait forever. She had good reason too, I was still working my way through my little black book, and was no where near ready to behave," he grinned. Morgan laughed out loud.
"David Rossi!" Garcia scolded.
"What? We were not that serious," he defended himself.
"Oh so you drop that kind of money on every girl you decided to entertain?" Emily challenged.
"You have no idea," Hotch interjected, having heard about many of the David Rossi escapades.
" However, I knew someday when I was ready for something serious, she would be the kinda girl I'd want to have around," Rossi explained as he discretly took JJ's hand under the table. He had found himself a girl like that. She was smart and this time he wasn't going to screw it up.
"Are you about ready for that now?" Emily wondered.
"I think so," he smirked. I KNOW so, he thought to himself. David Rossi never, NEVER let on about his personal life.
