SASUNARU
Beep Beep Beep Beep Beep Beep
Sasuke's heart thumped in time with the machine monitoring Naruto's. He had been in the hospital for four days...Four days since that horrible night.

He had found Naruto lying on the bathroom floor, a pool of blood gathering around him at an alarming rate. A razor lay in his limp hand and a bottle of pain-killers was empty in the sink. He had desperately scooped Naruto into his arms, tears streaming down his face. He had tied a towel around Naruto's wrist, panicing as Naruto's eyes rolled sightlessly.
Sasuke had raced down the highway at over twice the legal speed to the hospital. Naruto had gone into emergency surgery-his stomach had been pumped of the pain-killers and he had received twelve stitches on both wrists. He had gotten blood transfusions and put on anti-depressant medications through the IV.

Sasuke sighed chokingly, unsure of what to do. Naruto had slipped into a coma afterwards, as if he was unwilling to join the world again.
Sasuke stood from his chair beside Naruto's bed and kneeled beside the bed. "Hey Naruto." he whispered, stroking a bandaged hand. Naruto was pale and battered. Had he really done that to the blonde kitsune? Sasuke felt tears sliding down his face. "I-I'm sorry." he moaned, before collapsing onto the bed and weeping.

Sasuke looked up as a soft knock sounded. Kakashi stood in the door, looking awkward.
"Can I come in?" he asked, coughing.
Sasuke nodded, not trusting his voice to speak.
Kakashi walked in and stood on the other side of Naruto's bed.
"Hey dobe." Kakashi said quietly. "What got into you huh?" Kakashi laughed quietly. "Enjoy all this sleep... but we need you back...Konoha's too quite." Kakashi stroked one of Naruto's hands, and Sasuke felt a sudden surge of jealously.
"Don't touch him." he growled, standing.
Kakashi looked around at him. "From what Naruto told me...you're the reason he's like this...so I think I, of all people, am safe to touch him. I'm not the one who abused him for over a year." Kakashi's voice was menacing. His grey eye was angry, hatred searing Sasuke through.
Sasuke stood, shocked at Kakashi's words. The older nin was right though. If it weren't for him, Naruto would still be at home, healthy and whole, probably eating cup ramen as usual. Sasuke sat down, tears streaking his face. "You're right." he sniffled. "He deserves someone better than me."
Kakashi sat back on his heels.
"I-I'll go to councaling...I'll take therapy sessions...I'll do anything to be the person Naruto deserves." Sasuke's voice grew stronger.
"Oh I have no doubt that you can change...but will Naruto trust you?" Kakashi asked.
"He'll have to." Sasuke said, standing up and taking Naruto's hand. "I'll make you feel so loved...you won't even remember why you tried to leave me." Sasuke whispered, kissing Naruto's forehead. "I promise."
