This is my first fic with Snape. I hope I wrote him in character! He's my favorite, but I've always been nervous to write about him, because I wasn't sure if I could get the character down right. BUUUT I love Snape/Lily so I couldn't help myself!
Enjoy! Review please!!
The room fell silent as the wedding march started. Severus Snape stood, alone, on the balcony. He couldn't risk being seen by these people. Everyone below him wished him dead. Everyone except the bride of course.
Lily made her way down the isle towards James Potter. Snape scowled.
He wondered if he had asked the hat to be placed in Gryffindor, would Lily be heading towards him instead? Or if Snape hadn't joined up with Voldemort, could he and Lily have had a future with each other.
It didn't matter that to him that she was muggle born. It never did. Regardless of everything between Lily still did care for Snape. He knew that.
His mind wondered back to the day he learned that Lily could never hate him.
Graduation day was a day he was looking forward to more than anything. Snape couldn't wait to get out of Hogwarts and never come back. It was all arranged, Voldemort knew that Snape would be joining him as soon as he left school grounds.
Snape walked out of the Slytherin common room. He jumped when a small hand grasped his shoulder, gently. He spun around and saw Lily. He had tried to talk to her after calling her 'that word', but she said she wanted nothing to do with a future death eater. He tried accept the fact that his best friend was now his enemy, but he never could.
"What the hell are you doing hiding the shadows?" He snapped.
"I didn't want to risk a Slytherin seeing me by myself. Your lot doesn't to be very fond of muggle borns.
Snape's scowl faltered. He knew that several of his house mates would hurt Lily if they saw a muggle born alone and vulnerable. It didn't matter that Lily was a strong witch. She wouldn't kill; they would.
Lily was gazing up at him sadly. Snape felt his heart melt. He didn't want to see Lily upset. "Are you alright?" He asked.
Lily smiled slowly. "I-I don't hate you, Sev." She stopped and waited for his reaction. He had a his usual blank expression on his face, but Lily saw his eyes widen slightly.
"I do forgive you for what you said to me. And since we may never see each other again on friendly terms I just thought you should know that I still care about. You're my best friend."
Snape looked down at his feet. She lifted his chin with her fingers. "You will always be in my heart despite was lies in the future for us." She said this with a sad smile on her face. They both had accepted their fate. Severus was to become a Death Eater and Lily was to fight them.
"If we do see each other again, on not so friendly terms, I would never harm you." He said quietly.
"I know you wouldn't." A tear rolled down her cheek as she thought about never seeing her childhood friend again. Lily wrapped her arms around him and Snape slowly returned the hug, savoring each moment of it. She pulled away giving him a watery smile before walking down the hall to her future. Leaving Snape behind, as apart of her past.
A roar of clapping shook Snape out of his memory. He looked down and saw James passionately kissing Lily. He felt his stomach turn. They smiled up at each other. He saw Lily mouth the words 'I love you'. Snape's heart stopped. Lily and James walked down the isle hand-in-hand. With each step they took Snape felt his heart break.
Then Lily broke her gaze away from her wedding guests and looked up at the balcony.
She smiled softly and Snape froze. Did she see him?Her eyes discovered his and they held each others gaze before James led her away from him.
The green eyes found the black no longer.
Love it? Hate it? R&R!
