Fionna tried to peek through her hands, but Marshall slapped his hand over her eyes. "Unh-uh. No peeking," he said, laughing.

"Marshall, where in Aaa are you taking me?" Fionna asked. Cake was bounding along below, somehow having agreed to Marshall's ludicrous plan.

"You'll see," he said. Fionna could barely hear a thing that wasn't closer than ten feet, thanks to a certain incident involving a toaster and some firecrackers, so that didn't help.

Suddenly, she was falling. She didn't think much of it, and didn't open her eyes, figuring Marshall was right there to catch her before she fell. Of course, a jarring splash drove all thoughts from her mind. She screamed.

"Dude, calm yourself," Marshall said, floating alongside, a foot above the water. Fionna took no notice and thrashed around as her clothes became wetter and wetter. Marshall dodged flying droplets left and right.

Cake heard her screams. "I'm coming, sweetie!" she shouted, launching herself into the water. She shaped herself into a raft and gently lifted Fionna out of the water.

"Dude!" Fionna yelled at Marshall. "What was that? You know I'm afraid of water!"

"No, really?" Marshall said sarcastically. "I could never have guessed. That was the whole point of this thing! You couldn't have fought your fear for a little bit?"

"Oh," Fionna said, feeling lousy for yelling at Marshall when all he was doing was trying to help. "Sorry. I'll try again, if you want."

"Go back in the water."

Fionna swallowed her fear as best she could, and dipped a toe into the water. When she wasn't thinking about all that could happen, it was actually pretty neat. Granted, wet and weird, but neat. And then she thought about what would happen if she sank. She screamed again, jumping back onto Cake's back.

"That was great, sweetheart," Cake encouraged. "You're doin' great!"

"Try not to think about it. I'll be back," Marshall called over his shoulder, zipping off.

He came back moments later with a floating inflatable tube and a bathing suit. "You're going to swim in the water," he said firmly, "and I refuse to negotiate." He then turned his back as Fionna started to change.

"Ok, you can turn around now," Fiona said, pulling Cake's paw in front of her self-consciously, even though Marshall had opted for a modest blue one-piece with green straps. "Honestly, you couldn't have picked something more modest?"

"What did you want, a wet suit? Now come on, in you go. Hat off, too, because we don't want that to be wet." So out tumbled Fionna's hair as she pulled the tube up to her waist. When she hesitated a bit, Marshall came over and kissed her lips softly, then pushed her in.

"What the crap, dude? What was that?" Fionna asked. "I thought you knew we were just friends."

"We are," replied Marshall, "and I wouldn't have it any other way. I don't love you as anything other than a sister. The kiss was meant as a distraction. You're in the water, now, and you're not screaming."

"Oh, yeah," Fionna said. "I guess I am." She let the growing blush fade from her cheeks as she splashed around a bit. She splashed water up at Marshall as he ducked out of the way.

"So are you ready to try without the tube?"

"No!"

Hello, people. Just a random little drabble that popped into my head and demanded to be written. I always wondered what would happen if Finn/Fionna vanquished their fear of water.

I never intended for there to be any romance between Marshall and Fionna, but a kiss seemed like a perfect distraction, so I just used it and let the two of them resolve that themselves.

So, do you like it? Let me know! Review, please.
