Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto
Anko knows perfection. She strives for perfection. She is perfection.
At least, in her humble opinion.
But, if there was one thing that is possibly more perfect than her, it is dango. Soft, tender, sweet… yes, completely sublime.
A quaint little stand. A kindly old man. He sells her a stick for a reasonable price, and she accept it with a polite grin. Except not too innocent. She is a jounin, after all. Reputations have to be upheld.
And then, she will leap to the nearest rooftop to enjoy the treat in privacy. The mood has to fit. A gorgeous, setting sun, the scent of the forest drifting in the air, birds chirping peacefully in her ear…
But then that crying girl on the bench totally ruins it.
There's not much to say about Anko's mood other than she's annoyed. And frustrated.. No, not because the girl is sobbing in the middle of Konoha. But because unlike some people, Anko has a designated dango eating period that is not to be interrupted. And weeping like a baby is interrupting.
"Hey. Girl. Down there," the jounin calls. She looks up, green eyes glassy and cheeks streaked with tears. "Shut up, will ya?"
She blinks. But instead of quieting down, that insufferable brat starts back up again. Louder.
"Look, girly, some people are trying to relax here. Beat it." Anko leans back. "I didn't come here to listen to your crying."
"Shut up!" The little girl looks up through a curtain of pink—yes, pink— hair and scowls. 'Oh, you wanna go?'
"You're such a jerk!" The pinkette picks up a stray pebble and chucks it in her direction.
"Oh really?" Anko reaches out and catches the rock, crushing it in her fist. She pales.
"Y-yeah, you are! You're even meaner than Ino-pig!" 'Ino-pig? What's that? Some kind of weird nickname?'
"Look, you need to get something. Your whining is disrupting my free time, okay? So you need to scram. Now."
"Oh yeah? Well, why should I leave? Why don't you?" Her face reddens to a shade even deeper than her hair.
"Because I am a jounin. You are not. Move it."
"I'm a ninja!"
Scoff. "You've got a long way to go before you can challenge me, girly."
"Well, if that's what jounin are like, then I don't even want to be one!"
Anko picks her nails. "Please. You couldn't be one if you tried."
"Sasuke-kun's a better ninja than you'll ever be!" 'Sasuke-kun? Where did that come from? Is this girl… okay?'
"Too bad I don't care about Sasuke. All I know is that you are not Sasuke, so you will be a sucky kunoichi. And if some kid is all that you think about, you'll just be a weak little princess."
"No! I won't! Sasuke will protect me!"
"Listen to yourself. You're completely reliant on that guy. You'll never get stronger that way."
"Well, I'm going to train until I'm better! I'll be just a strong as Sasuke! Just you wait!"
"Good luck with that."
"Someday, I'll be more powerful than you! And then you'll take it all back, shannaro!"
This girl… yet somehow, the jounin is left looking forward to that day, when it comes.
"Ha. Then get it together, girl."
Perhaps tough love was what Sakura needed. Because although Anko didn't know it then, she had just completely screwed over the hands of fate. Perfectly.
Hiya guys! This is my latest one-shot with Sakura and Anko. Just a little fic, a little girl-power. :)
Take it easy on me guys, it was very late and I was slightly delusional when I wrote this. Also, I was writing in present tense, which is just sooooo unnatural. However, I was trying to think of something to write, and it seemed cute (at the time). If Sakura trained with Anko instead of Kakashi when she was a genin, she would've turned out to be a total badass. And that would be pretty cool, right?
