Oneshot #7: Christmas In Two Worlds

7-year-old Lyra Belaqua woke up and jumped out of bed, Pantalaimon a restless hummingbird beside her.

She dashed downstairs to where the Master had put the Christmas tree and saw nobody else over there. She wasn't allowed to open presents without an adult watching her, but soon Mrs. Lonsdale came and sat down with her.

"Mrs. Lonsdale! Mrs. Lonsdale! Look! Look! Father Christmas came!" Lyra squealed, jumping up and down.

"Can I open my presents, please?" She begged. Lyra was very hyper at age 7.

She nodded. Lyra opened present after present, each one more wonderful than the next.

For the rest of the day, she ran around and caused chaos and Uncle Asriel even visited! It was the best Christmas EVER!

Will woke up and went downstairs to the Christmas tree. He had just figured out a little over a month ago that he had to take care of his mother and not the other way around.

She woke up soon after him and they opened his presents together. He had ten. They weren't the best, but he loved them, and told her so all the same.

She didn't know he'd stopped believing in Father Christmas, and Will intended to keep it that way.

They had a small dinner, which was expected too, but she was doing well. Better than usual at least.

Lyra was twenty-two now. It was Christmas, and she was at the Botanical Garden. It was cold, but she didn't mind that much.

Pantalaimon sat with her, remembering that particular Christmas for no particular reason.

"Ten years." Lyra said. "It's been ten YEARS Pan and we still aren't…"

"We still aren't over them." He finished.

Will was sitting in the Botanical Garden in his world, with Kirjava on his lap.

They were having a similar conversation. Suddenly, Mary came. "Come on Will." She said. "It's cold out. Lyra wouldn't want you frezing to death."

The Master had come to Lyra and said something similar. She'd told him about Will by that time and reluctantly went with him.

They were sad, but they would keep going. For eachother.

Another Drabble-y Drabble! Huryay! Oh no. The icecream's taking it's toll. Excuse me while I go lapse into a sugar coma.
