I do not own the world or characters of Harry Potter.

Summary: The battle for Hogwarts is technically over, but truth be told, it never really ended. To this day. Gryffindors, Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs have been fighting with Slytherin to a point of utter hatred. But when Dolores Umbridge comes back to Hogwarts even wickeder than before, can the houses unite to save their school?

Prologue

Lily Luna Potter

She may have waited her entire life for this moment, but now that it was here, she would have given anything to run away from it.

"Longbottom, Naomi," McGonagall called out.

A girl with dirty blonde hair stepped forward and walked towards the sorting hat. She didn't seem to be afraid, in fact she held herself with confidence, as if she was going to dare the sorting hat to put her in the wrong house. But as soon as the hat touched her head, the colour started to drain out of her face.

"Ravenclaw!"

Naomi's face flushed with relief as she took the hat off, and practically raced to the Ravenclaw table where she was greeted by Dominique and a boy.

"Parkinson, Trent."

Lily barely paid attention to the boy, that is until the sorting hat screamed "Slytherin!"

The tension in the room grew as the Slytherins exploded into applause. "It's almost my turn, I can't get into Slytherin Hugo, I just can't." Lily whispered.

"You'll be fine." Hugo squeezed her shoulder before letting go.

"Potter, Lily." The room fell silent. Lily zoned out and forced herself to keep moving forward, one foot at a time until she reached the sorting hat.

She barely felt the hat on her head before she fell into darkness.

Lily Luna Potter, so much talent, so much potential, but where to put you?

'Anywhere but Slytherin's fine.' Lily murmured.

What's wrong with Slytherin, I mean you have the power and po-

'No! Slytherin will be the death of me.'

Slytherin will not lose you your family.

'How'd you, oh right you're the sorting hat. Well then you should know that every single Potter and Weasley kid hates Slytherin.'

I'm sure you can change that if you joined Slytherin.

'Or lose them forever. If you have any compassion in your heart, don't put me in Slytherin,' Lily pleaded

I'm sorry, but I have to pick the house that describes you the best.

Lily winced as she finally regained her vision.

"Gryffindor!"

Lily stood up and faced the hat with a disbelieving look. If she wasn't going crazy, she could have sworn that she saw the hat wink at her. Either way, she grinned at it, before turning around to go to the Gryffindor table, which was exploding with applause.

After that, everything was a blur, that is except for Hugo's sorting. He had gotten the Weasley luck and as a result, the hat barely took a second to scream out Gryffindor. But Lily was happy, and a gut feeling told her that this was going to be the best year ever.

Oh how wrong she was.

An insanely short prologue under five hundred words, but I just wanted to include the sorting before going on to do chapters around three thousand words so don't forget to follow, favourite and review!
