A/N: Kala doesn't like surprises that much either. Another drabble for a couple of original characters, Akkik and Kala, from Tides of Chaos by Ciloron.

Kala stood at the bow of the ship, taking a deep breath of the salty sea air before letting out a groan. She was ready to get off this stupid vessel but they wouldn't be docking until tomorrow.
All her advances on Akkik were not going well and she was growing increasingly frustrated. She knew she was pretty, she had her fair share of crushes back home, and she knew she was smart, but Akkik was too noble and chivalrous to have anything to do with her.
She willed some of the water up from the sea and tossed it back and forth between her hands, anything to get her mind off her failure. As she bent the water faster, the space between her hands got wider and wider, and the arc of the waterball higher and higher, until she was practically juggling the ball over her head.
"Hello," someone said from behind her suddenly, a teasing quality in his tone.
Kala screamed in surprise, the ball of water splashing on her head and her open mouth letting in some of the saltiness.
There was a deep chuckle as Kala opened her eyes to glare at the newcomer. Only one person would do that to her. Only one person would still be unharmed enough to be chuckling right now.
"I hope I didn't startle you, Kala," Akkik teased. It wasn't often he caught the girl by surprise.
But his smirk soon fell as one formed on her mouth. She bent the water off her skin, ignoring the sticky feeling of the salt on her skin, and formed a long tendrill with the water.
"I'll give you a three second headstart," she threatened, moving the water-whip around like a snake ready to strike.
Akkik didn't need telling twice.
