"What Might Have Been"
Princess Bubblegum looked out the window of her bedroom in her castle and let out a sad sigh. She knew eventually it would happen. Finn found love with someone else. Not only that, but he was getting married as well. She remembers when it was her that he lavished attention on. Attention now she wished she gave back.
She began to walk in the hallway, thinking back to the first time he arrived in the Candy Kingdom, fought off some trolls that were meancing it, and her rewarding him with a kiss on the cheek.
It was with that kiss that caused Finn to fall in love with her first. She didn't think much of it, dismissing it as a harmless crush that he'll eventually get over. But he didn't. His love for her was genuine.
The years pass, and still he persued her, despite her always rebuffing him. He always brought her flowers or some jewels he found from exploring abandoned caves and dungeons, only for her to accept them half-heartedly.
She then remembers that time he stood outside her bedroom window with a guitar, wanting to sing her a song that he found on some old sheet music during one of his adventures, and doing so with such heartfelt emotion. She still can hear it now:

Then, she remembers her response: "That's nice, Finn. Goodnight."
That's nice, Finn. Goodnight. That was stupid of you, Bonnibel. Princess Bubblegum thought to herself. She then entered her lab, and thought back some more on when Finn came over, always asking her out:
Hey P.B., let's go for a walk!
Hey P.B., want to see a movie?
Hey P.B., wold you like to come over for dinner?
What was her usual response? Not now, Finn. I'm busy with my research.
Princess Bubblegum frowns. Research. What good did it do her? Angrily, she began to smash some test tubes before stopping and trying to compose herself. She then sadly began to remember when Finn stopped asking her out. As he got older and more handsome, she began to develop feelings for him and started to think that she was wrong.
Only then, it was too late. She learned about them dating. Then one day he came over with her, and they told her about their engagement. She was the second one they told after Jake. She feigned happiness for them, what else could she do?
She then promised to help make their wedding day special if need be, and to let her know. They thanked her and left to tell others of their happy news. Princess Bubblegum's thoughts returned to the present.
She continued to sadly walk toward her throne and sat down. Then, sorrow overcomes her and she buries her head in her hands and cries, for what might have been.
