Decisions

Disclaimer: Come on now, you all have to know me pretty well by now...
you probably don't even read this anymore. You know I don't own any of
the characters here. The idea of the best choice is the hardest one
comes from my grandma.
======

The best choices are usually the ones
that are the hardest to make.

Quistis picked up her box with her teaching items, then started to
walk out of the classroom. She looked around the familiar room.

~I've spent so many years of my life here. Teaching. Looking after
others. Now what?~ At midnight she'd be giving up all she knew. Why?
because some people thought she didn't know how to do her job. And
maybe, because she saw more to life than this.

~Am I ready? To only be a SeeD, like so many here? Follow orders
mindlessly. Living day to day. Never getting to settle down.~ Quistis
walked to the elevator. She slowed her pace, looking around her.

~Am I meant to be one of the adventurous people? I wish, I wish I
could have someone tell me what's right for a change. It seems like
all I do is teach what is right and help with decisions. Is this
what's good for me? To sit and waste away my life teaching about
things I've never truely experienced?~ She walked to her dorm room
and quickly dumped her box in, then headed for the training center,
where she was going to meet Squall, one of her favorite students.
He always seemed to think about things... maybe he could give her an
answer. She moved to the entrance and waited. When he came, she
greeted him, walked with him into the area.

"As of midnight, now, I am no longer an instuctor." She said to him
as they reach looked out onto Balamb and the Balamb plains. She tried
to continue.

"What do you want from me?" He asked, looking through her.

"I want you to listen, and give me your thoughts. Your opinions."
Squall glared at her and walked away.

"Why don't you just go talk to a wall."

"Maybe they were right. Maybe I am a bad instructor." Quistis whispered
as he walked away. She stopped and thought. ~He has given me the
answer I am looking for. As an instructor I have the easy life.
The safe life where people listen and I am in control. This will be
hard, but by just being a SeeD, I can deal with things around me more.
I won't be able to always be a teacher, but I can be a student
instead. I can learn from things around me and grow stronger than I
would by just sitting here. I can find adventure... and a love meant
for me.~ Quistis turned back to the skyline and looked out.

~Or I can leave, become a teacher in a small town. Be safe. Settle
down. Have a family. Take the easy way out.~

~I can find a better life than one of just a cooped up teacher.~
