He's blind, stiff-jointed and mute, but Kili still comes to him for advise. Sometimes, just to talk. Fili always listens, in a silent reverie as his brother tells him the news./p

p"Can you believe it, brother?" Kili asks one day, excitedly. He doesn't wait for a reply. "I'm finally getting married!" Fili remains stony-faced as his brother prattles on about his love-life. His sightless eyes remain steady in his brother's face, but his mind is clearly somewhere else, far, far /

"She's sick, Fee." Says the younger dwarf, running his fingers through greying hair. "I don't know what to do about it. I have so many duties, and so much on my shoulders, but she's SICK." Kili's face is contorted with worry, but Fili remains vacant, introspective as ever, seeming to take more interest in the nightingales flocking outside, chattering to each other. Kili doesn't seem to take much notice. "I just don't want to loose her, too." He shoulders begin to shake as silent sobs rack through him, but Fili remains mute, continuing to watch the /

"She's gone." The words drop like lead in the quiet, dark little room. Fili's eyes on him are milky white, devoid of any emotion. Kili leans against his brother and he's cold and hard. "She's gone, you're gone, and I'm alone." His voice is hoarse when he laughs humorlessly, curling into the lap of his brother's statue. His fingers find their way to the smooth, marble face, stroking its cheek. "All is lost, brother."br /
