When they finally found the boy, he was void of breath and a pulse. Naruto had actually been the first to spot him, but now he sat on the sidelines with a more-than-hysterical Sakura in front of him, trying to revive the remaining Uchiha boy.

It seemed hopeless, and the blonde could honestly say he was not the least bit surprised to find him dead, but a weight lifted off of his shoulders when he heard Sasuke gasp a greedy lungful of air into his body.

Naruto could say he was surprised, though, when Sasuke woke up clinically insane.

"Itachi!" The last Uchiha wailed, arms flying violently in the air, fingers grasping for people who just were not there. "Please wake up, I didn't mean it..."

Sasuke's eyes were fierce, full of only one emotion: regret. Itachi Uchiha had been murdered by his younger brother. The news was obviously not fresh. Naruto had known for almost three months now just what had caused the older Uchiha's demise.

It confused the blonde slightly. In the short time he had grown close to Sasuke, he had learned that the raven haired boy only lived for revenge against Itachi. Sasuke was out for blood, and even suceeded in spilling the blood he desired, so then why was he begging his deceased brother for redemption?

"Please, Itachi...forgive me. Had I known you didn't mean to...had I known you actually cared about me..."

Sasuke began his screaming after that.

Naruto tried to hold the boy down, tried talking to him and waking him out of the trance he was stuck in, but to no avail. Sasuke swung his arms in dangerous strides nailing Naruto in the head more than once.

Sasuke was broken.

"I'm sorry, Itachi! I'm a horrible little brother! One more breath, just one more, please..."

Naruto did the only thing he could think of. He hit Sasuke in the head violently with the back of a rusted kunai and watched as he fell limp, but not unconscious.

Sakura, albeit shaking, bravely walked over to the blonde and placed a caring hand on his shoulder. Tears stained her cheeks and gentle breezes slowly fluttered her light pink hair across her face.

"He tried to kill himself. Maybe it is better off..." Was all she said before she walked away.

"Itachi..."

Naruto trailed his gaze back to the slowly waking Uchiha below his feet, watching as only two tears left his eyes.

"Itachi...I will join you in death, brother. It is what I deserve."

Naruto knew what he had to do before Sasuke could finish the sentance. Guilt and pain resting heavy on his heart, Naruto turned the kunai around so he blade was facing Sasuke's chest and knelt down.

"I'm so sorry Sasuke. Be at peace, will you? Don't make me regret helping a traitor."

Sasuke's eyes stared unknowingly towards the sky, oblivious to the blonde boy looming over him with a defensive kunai. Naruto leaned over and pressed a light kiss to the Uchiha's temple before squeezing his eyes shut and lunging the kunai into Sasuke's heart with an agonizing wail.

"You're okay now, Sasuke."
