Lavenders

Yi Jung sat on the wooden bench and stared at the bouquet of flowers he has just made with a basket of lavenders he has found. He brought the flowers to his nose, careful not to ruin the decorations he had inserted into it so it would look special. He took a whiff of its wondrous scent and sighed. It reminded him of one person: Chu Ga Eul.

Chu Ga Eul. He chuckled at the thought of her. He couldn't believe that after five years, he would still chase after her. No, the unbelievable part was the fact he couldn't get her out of his mind no matter how hard he had tried. Even when he was in Sweden, there was never a night when he would forget her. Who knew a country bumpkin like her would have such a huge impact on a Casanova like him.

He could still remember the first time he had met her and she bluntly stated how he could fool any women with his smile except her. He had gotten so angry that day because she was the first girl to state how she felt about him without caring about the consequences. Soon, it seemed that she was everywhere and she had assimilated into his life. Without knowing, she began to have a main role in his life as well. It was as if everywhere he went, she was there; omnipresent being.

He had expected life to go his way: just partying with women and drinking until he passed out. Yet after meeting Ga Eul, it seemed everyday was different. She challenged him with questions he never wanted to confront. She exposed him, dead naked, in front of his issues. She never backed down even when he shoved her away harshly, figuratively of course. Many women would have backed down and apologized, but she didn't. She stuck to her courage and showed him how cowardly he was. Though she did not know, she changed him. She turned him from a weak person to one that fought back his fears; his fears of love and commitment. She helped him overcome his obstacle in the form of Eun Jae and taught him what true unrequited love was. The love he had for Eun Jae was small compared to the love she had for him.

He couldn't even count how much she had been there for him and done things for him out of selflessness. He recalled the time she had searched endlessly for the thing Eun Jae had tried to show him and she even went up to him exhausted and looked like she was about to die. At that time, he was more worried about her than curious about what she wanted to show him. He was grateful she found it though for it helped him release the pain he had for Eun Jae and allowed him to embrace the love she had for him. There was so much she had done for him, hopefully, he would be able to make it up to her now.

"Sunbae, I'm a little late aren't I?" He heard his name being called and looked to find Ga Eul smiling and walking towards him.

"Will you be my flower?" He looks into her beautiful chocolate eyes and held out the lavender flowers. Maybe this time, he will have the chance to repay her.
