A/N: WOW its been a long time since I last did this. I am sorry but you won't believe the amount of work I had in the past few months. And it's not even over yet. This year is the busiest of my life- but my troubles aside ON WITH THE STORY!

PS: This is my first Eragon fic there might be some differences form the book especially geographically but I'll try to keep these to a minimum

Disclaimer: Do I own Eragon? Of course I do…. It's a disclaimer you knucklehead! Duh I don't own the Inheritance cycle Christopher Paolini does...

Mia raced past the dungeons deeper and deeper into the castle. She knew the castles honeycombed passages like the back of her hand and yet it was so easy to get lost down here. Her only source of light was a weak candle that was drawing towards its end.

Suddenly Mia collided with a solid brick wall. She fell backwards onto the damp slippery floor. Her candle went out and Mia was plunged into darkness. Breathing heavily she groped the walls and lifted herself up. She couldn't see.

Then the wall gave away Once again Mia found herself falling backwards. This time slightly annoyed Mia picked herself up. She was in a large cavern it was brightly lit which was a relief and yet it was bare. There was a faint smell of sewage as if to complete the oddity of this image.

Mia drew her sword and cautiously crept forward. She felt a tingling in her limbs.

Magic

She couldn't use it, but after years of being tortured by means of black magic she could sense it, and she feared it. Grasping her weapon more tightly she continued. But what use was metal over magic?

Mia spotted a tiny door. Curious she inched towards it. The tingling sensation grew stronger but it was pushed to the back of her mind. She found herself drawn towards the door as if there was an invisible force pulling her towards it.

Rather timidly, as if afraid to find what was on the other side Mia opened the door. It led to a small room, barely enough for one person, actually it was more like a closet, inside there was only one thing a large jeweled box.

Without even hesitating to admire the foot long emerald that decorated the box's lid Mia snapped it open. Inside was a rather large green stone. Mia ran her hand over its smooth, cold surface. It's color was beautiful a darkish green that Mia couldn't place her finger on. But green was her favorite color. Making a split decision Mia stuffed the stone in to her pack and ran. Freedom was within visible distance

Mia burst out of the cave and felt the sun on her skin it was warm and pleasant after years of dark and cold. She closed her eyes for a brief moment and inhaled the scent of pine and lavender. Two birds somewhere in the forest sang out loud beckoning her into the forest. And Mia danced right in.

Two weeks had gone by and the king was bound to have noticed that his daughter was missing. Mia sat by a dying fire. She hadn't had a proper meal in days. Wearily she hugged the green stone to her chest. After many heated arguments with herself she had decided to sell the stone to the first town she came across and then buy some supplies. Sighing Mia grabbed a blanket and went to sleep, one hand protectively over the green stone.

A/N: its short I know, but she is gonna meet Eragon in the next chappie (YAY) so I thought it best to end here. Any suggestions if so please send them and if you guys have any ideas please send them to me cos I don't have many great ideas!
