Meant to Be

Let's get this strait. Teen relationships are realty hard especially when one of the parents hates your guts. That's how it is with me. My name is Percy Jackson. I saved Mt. Olympus a few months ago from its greatest doom and I care deeply about my girlfriend, Annabeth Chase. Her mom, Athena, hates my guts because my dad is Posiedon. So we're a "forbidden" love but that's not gonna stop me from being with Annabeth. Right now I'm in Camp Half-Blood and on my way to the beach to meet with Annabeth.

Tonight, there's a nice moon out with lots of stars that will make this moment perfect. I'm not planning anything for tonight, but I just want it to be romantic and peaceful for the both of us. I found her sitting on the sand hugging her knees to her chest. She had her serious thinking face so I decided to kind of surprise her.

I kind of swooped in gently and put my arms around her and added a kiss on the cheek. She reacted surprised but not mad. She gave me a smile once I kissed her on the cheek. I love her smiles. They make me love her even more and make me think she's the most beautiful creature in the world.

"Hi" I say.

"Hey Seaweed Brain" She says. She tries to give me a smile but it doesn't work.

We sit close together and just stare at the ocean and the stars for a bit until I try to talk to her. She looks worried. Like she's struggling with something.

"You okay Annabeth?" I ask worriedly.

She hesitates. "I'm not sure Percy"

I hug her tightly. "You know you can tell me anything. Whatever it is, I'll help you and be here for you as much as I can."

"It's my mom Percy. You know how much she hates us being together. So I try to ignore her. But today she came form Olympus to talk to me about us."

I looked at her. "What did she say?"

Annabeth hesitated. "Basically, she warned me to brake up with you and to stay from you. And she said if I didn't then she'll make it miserable for us until we do."

I frowned. Athena's warnings never affected Annabeth. But this time it seems different. Like something worse is involved.

"Is there anything else that she said? Did she threaten to kill me or disinherit you?" I asked.

"No nothing like that." She said. Something still seemed to bother her.

"Then what's wrong? She didn't threaten to kill-"

"It seemed different this time Percy. She looked serious. She really meant that she'd make it miserable for us. That's just the same as torturing someone to death." Her voice cracked. "I don't want us to go through that." She swallowed hard and took a breath.

"Hey, nothing's going to happen to us. I'm not going to let her break us apart and I know you won't either. I will protect us and you and make sure you don't get hurt." I looked her in the eyes, meaning the words I was saying with all my heart.

"We're meant to be. I don't know how I know, but I can feel it. This will be a test for the both of us. And we will go through it. Together."

She smiled at me. She leaned in and gave me a long, soft but meaningful kiss. We broke apart for air and without thinking said the three big words.

"I love you" I whispered to her.

She looked in my eyes and repeated the words. "I love you."

We stayed there in each other's arms for a long time, never letting go. I meant what I said. I will protect her no matter what because I know we're meant to be. And I'll prove it to anyone.
