Playing With Fire

[[ Because I'm a dork and I like to write fanfics of multi-fandoms roleplays I partake in, here is the context leading up to this little scene: characters have been taken out of their realities and have been appearing in our real world. Some have made alliances and have chosen to stick together in order to find a way to go back to the time and places in which they came from. Seras has been taken out somewhere around Hellsing Ultimate 4. She is attacked by a creature that makes her relive not only the horrors of her past, but also shows her what happens to Pip in the near future when he tries to save her. Thankfully, she is rescued and is in good company. ]]

She barely noticed when Selina handed her over into the arms of another person, but from the moment she felt his arms around her, everything changed. Her cries and sobs slowed the second she heard his voice. Remy pulled her against his chest, close enough for comfort but nothing tight and confining. She could break away easily if she wanted to and for a second she even considered doing so. But he whispered a few soft, French words to her while his hands stroked her back and shoulders and it was enough to make her feel differently. The sadness hadn't left her, but something stronger was replacing all of that horrible pain.

It was his heartbeat. It was soft and steady but seemed to be growing louder by the minute. It pounded in her ears like a drum, scaring away the terrible memories but reminding her of the lifeblood that kept that heartbeat going strong. Seras leaned her head against his chest unknowingly, her eyes closed, her lips parting, and she inhaled the scent of his skin. Her arms moved on their own, touching his ribs and slowly snaking around him. This must have startled him at first, but he continued to stroke her shoulders and back, occasionally leading his hand up the back of her neck and into her hair. His hand was warm against her cool skin and she could feel the blood pulsing in his fingertips. Her tongue dragged across her lips and she found herself moving her face into his shoulder before nestling into his neck.

Seras breathed in his scent once more. His exposed neck was so warm against her lips, as if the blood flowing beneath it was just begging her to taste him. She bit down on her lower lip, resisting the urge for a moment long before she opened her mouth slightly. Remy felt her teeth against his skin, her tongue prodding at a spot just beneath his ear. It sent shivers up and down his spine. Had she been an ordinary woman he would have taken this as an invitation to undo the buttons on her shirt and trail his own kisses down her neck and into her breasts. But Seras was no ordinary woman, and this was a potentially life threatening situation he found himself in. Even so, startling her or reacting suddenly would be just as disastrous for him. Remy moved his hand up to the back of her head, stroking her hair while his moved his cheek against hers.

"You're playing with fire, ma chere." he whispered softly to her. "You won't like a vampire Gambit."

His voice once against brought her out of it, though not entirely. Her lips pulled away from his skin, but there was still a haziness about her. Her vampire instincts still conflicted with her human morality and he pulled away long enough to see that lost, confused look in her eyes.

So he moved in and very softly and very quickly planted a kiss on her lips.

Not a second afterwards, her big blue eyes fluttered open. She stared at him and her expression was something of comedic gold. Certainly taken aback, perhaps a bit offended by the act, but very unsure as to whether or not she enjoyed it. Remy smirked a bit when he noticed the redness well up in her cheeks and it didn't take long for her to hastily push herself away from him and increase the distance between them.
