Borra Week, Day 1: Day Off

These lazy days when we both can escape from our duties are wonderful. They aren't filled with the giddy joy from the early days of our relationship. There's a quiet contentment as we lay together and take simple pleasure in each other's company. Regardless of what we need to do or should be doing, we find a way to delay it and have one of those rare, wonderful days that are just spent together. Neither of us is especially quiet, but we tend to relax together without the need for words to break the peace.

Through the day we keep in almost constant physical contact with each other. If I'm lying on the couch reading a scroll he sits on the ground with his head leaned back against my arm. We eat shoulder to shoulder, stealing bits of food from each other and laughing as we each try to defend our plates. In the lazy afternoons we sometimes nap face to face with our arms draped over each other and our legs twined together. The rush of our everyday lives has its own pleasures, but the dreamy happiness of these days off is a rare treat for both of us.
