Lunar Cycle
A Twilight Fan fiction by Little Kitty
Prologue
Renesme was tired of being a good little vampire. She was 16 years old, and going through that teenage rebellion stage. Human food tastes like cardboard, and animal blood, it was like living off tofu! Her father Edward had told her a few times that ever since she was a little baby, she'd preferred blood over human food. As she was half-human, half-vampire, she could survive on either. Now, thought Renesme, what does it matter if a couple of people die? Thousands of people die every minute! But she knew that her parents would never let her do it. She'd have to be sneaky about it.
Chapter 1
"Renesme, honey?" called mother.
"Yeah, what?" I replied.
"Come here." I put my laptop away and slowly walked down the elegant, wooden spiraling staircase. Around, and around, and around. When I was seven, I fell down those stairs, and that's why they're all dinted. Being half-vampire, it was lucky there wasn't a me shaped hole in the middle going from here to Hell. Sometimes it feels like I am in Hell. "Yes?" I ask when I reach the bottom. "I need you to go see Jacob. Dad and I have some stuff to take care of." She said in a flirty voice. Oh god. Not again. "Ok, whatever. Going." I left asap. Oh god. I'm not a little kid anymore, I'm 13 now. I sprint to Jacob's at a speed of at least 500kmph. To me it wasn't anything special. I was used to it. As I approached Jacob's house, I saw a silhouette of a giant dog waiting at the front door. "Hey Jake." I call. He holds his paw up as if to say "1 second," and disappeared around the back of the house. A minute later he returned as a human, and fully dressed. That's the only downside to transforming. No clothing. We go hiking, and then he shows me his motorbike he made from old parts he'd found at the Tip. By then, it's 6:07. I was meant to be home by 5:45. So I just said bye to Jake, and sprinted home. Her parents were probably going to throw a big hissy fit and then go make out in their bedroom. When I walked through the door, everything was quiet.
