You walked slowly along the beach of the reservation allowing the small waves to lap at your bare feet. Eventually you had reached the end where the long, sandy stretch of land met the multicolored (Now mind you, I don't mean crazy neon colors.) rocks.
Wind blew softly, tangling your hair as you sat down on a bone-white piece of wood.
When you looked up your eyes then caught sight of someone walking down the beach in your direction. You didn't know them though, as you were new to the area, only having moved there two weeks ago.
From what you could see, he was tall. Very tall at that. He had long black hair that reached just past his shoulders, and his skin was the most beautiful shade of red. And he was wearing a dark grey t-shirt with torn up jeans.
He walked up to you with a friendly smile, flashing a set of perfectly white teeth before he greeted you. "Hello. I'm Jacob. You must be new here."
He extended his hand to you and you shakily extended yours back. After you guys shook hands he sat down on the other piece of wood just opposite yours.
A stray gust blew a few strands of hair into your face as you introduced yourself to him. "Hi Jacob, I'm -."
"Are you liking it down here so far?" His voice was gruff and deep but had a gentle tone to it.
"Oh, I'm loving it! Living just a few miles from this gorgeous reservation is perfect." You gave a small smile in his direction.
"That's great to hear. Most kids who come down here hate it. They say that it's too boring . . not lively enough for them. But hey? What do they know?" His lips turned up in a light grin, bringing out the dimples on his soft baby-like cheeks.
"Yeah, haha, you're right." You say back. You were always shy and did not normally speak to people who were unknown to you. But there was something about that boy that made you feel comfortable.
The two of you stayed silent for a few minutes; he was the one to break it. "So. . will you be going to school here?"
"Nope. I'm home schooled.." You shrugged your shoulders and sighed.
"That's too bad. You would fit in great." He flashed his perfect teeth once more. You looked up at him, unable to suppress a wide grin. He was so kind. It was rare to find anyone with the attitude he had those days.
He kept up a constant chatter with you about a multitude of things, ranging from music to school. Before you knew it, the sun began to set on the horizon, streaking the sky with orange and red and pink.
"Oh gee!" You said in surprise when you saw darkness creeping up and preparing to set in for the night. "I need to be going now, or my mum will be furious with me." You giggled a little when you stood up.
"Let me walk you to the parking area. Creepy people come out around this time." He grinned and you set off.

You had just got in your old hand-me-down junker of a car when Jacob tapped on the window. You rolled it down, allowing him to lean in casually. "Hey, this Friday we'll be having a party down here at La Push, and you're invited. Hope to see you." He waved then jogged off in the direction of his house.
You were filled to the brim with happiness at making a new friend so soon.
