He was a freak. He was obsessed with all things gross and nerdy. He was invisible.

She was popular. She was obsessed with all things "in" and cool. She was seen from miles away.

So they never talked. She never gave him the time of day.

That's just how it was at the ever-so-prestigious Konoha High middle-school. The popular kids never spoke to the nerds. That's just how it was.

Aburame Shino knew that better than anyone else.

So it really sucked for him when he discovered how much he liked Yamanaka Ino in fifth grade.

It really sucked for him when he discovered that she was the bitchiest one of the group. At least Sakura had her kind moments, when she wasn't following Ino around like a blind monkey, her boyfriend, Naruto, was always generally sweet, Sasuke was just sullen and forever unresponsive, Kiba was loud and obnoxious and Tenten was their lackey, the girl who gave, but never received.

He knew he couldn't have her, and that just made him want her more.

So it must have been fate when invisible Aburame Shino and boisterous Yamanaka Ino bumped into each other while running through the halls of Konoha High.

"Oh, I'm so sorry!" She said, no sarcasm or bitchiness evident in her voice. Shino was surprised at the genuineness he heard coming from her.

"It's all right." He barely -- and I mean barely replied, as he began to pick up his books.

"No, let me help you." She insisted, bending down to pick up the fallen textbooks, giving Aburame Shino a birds-eye view of her glory. He somehow managed not to stare. Damn, he deserved a medal or something.

"No, really, I can do it myself." He mumbled as he too, bent down to pick up his books.

His hand brushed hers as they both tried to pick up the books, and he didn't know about her but damn, he felt the connection. He pulled his hand back, and allowed her to pick up the books in a hurry.

She too, felt some sort of spark as their hands brushed. Fighting a blush, she picked up the books quickly, and stood up. "There you go, you didn't have to bend down at all." She said sweetly as she handed them to him.

"Ino-chan! C'mon, we're gonna be late!" Haruno Sakura and Uzumaki Naruto shouted from across the hall.

"I'm coming!" She shouted back, and left the poor boy on the ground by himself. But he was all right. Yamanaka Ino had touched his hand. His Ino had touched his hand.

Aburame Shino solemnly swore never to wash his hand again.

A/N: Ahaha, I love this ship. It's the anime version of Dan Humphrey/Serena Van Der Woodsen, which I adore.

First thing I've written in a while, go easy on me XD
