Only silence filled the air after the two bodies that lie on the bed finished the time old dance of love. The nobleman pulled his lover closer and placed a lingering kiss on her full lips.
"Why me?" the woman asked as he pulled away.
"I do not understand…" he answered briefly as he stroked her strawberry blonde hair with his gentle fingers.
"Why are you with me?" she elaborates. "You can be with anyone. Every woman in Seireitei desires you. Why me? I'm a commoner. I am not worthy of a nobleman as yourself."
"The answer is simple Rangiku." He began. "I am with you because I love you. I do not care for the other things that you have mentioned."
"What about your family? I know they will not approve of you having yet another affair with a commoner." She pressed.
"I have defied them once and I can do it again."
She did not respond any further after his answer. The Kuchiki clan head looked at his companion with a questioning glance and asked.
"What brought about these sudden questions?"
"Nothing…" she murmurs.
"I know you very well, Rangiku. I can easily see through your lies." He shifted in his position so he was looking directly into her eyes. "Weren't you the one who told me that love does not know any position or rank? You were the one who said that as long as we love each other then nothing else matters."
"I know…." She sighed. "I guess I just don't see it."
"See what?"
"Why you love me" She stares him in the eye. "Give me one good reason why you love me."
Byakuya, with a smile, leaned down and kissed her once more.
"Because there is no reason not to."
