A/N: Ok, so whoever reading this. All of the characters in this story are mine. I do steal many things from other stories, such as Spirit, and Black Beauty. I put it in this area because I had no idea where else to put it. It is more like Black Beauty than the Black Stallion. Please keep an open mind when reading this, because I origionally wrote this last year and am just now typing it and fixing it up a little. PLEASE REVIEW!!!

Chapter 1

Our story begins here, on a little farm. With a mustang mare named Belle, a draft stallion named Jake, and an old wheat farmer named Frank. Frank plowed his fields everyday. He used a stool to attach the plow to Jake. Jake is a tall blue roan. He whinnies to Belle every morning. She always perked he ears and watched the two of them as they went back and forth in the fields. They would normally be out all day. One day Frank let the two horses in the same pasture. As the day wore on Frank stopped by to see Belle and Jake, time after time.

When it came time to put the horses away, Belle refused to leave Jake under any circumstances. She loved him. Frank had the darndest time getting the two into separate stalls, but he got it done. Frank finally decided that Belle was pregnant. The months went by and Belle grew bigger and bigger. Finally one night Belle went into labor. She was restless for three hours, standing up and laying down. At last she settled down. About thirty minutes later Belle gave birth to a healthy colt. After he was dried off he began to stand. He pushed his hind end in the air. He rocked on his knees for a minute and then he pushed his front feet under him. He wobbled side to side as he began to take his first steps.

That morning when Frank went to feed, he noticed a little, wide-eyed colt staring at him. Over the next five months Frank had quite a handful dealing with the new colt. One afternoon Blue Boy as the colt was named, began to whinny as loud as he could. Blue Boy's color was beginning to come out quite nicely. He was a blue dun. A very rare color and never really seen before. He had a large white thunderbolt running down his nose. He had faint zebra stripes on his legs above his stockings. Blue Boy continued to scream. Frank ran from the house, to find Belle wrestling a cougar. Frank ran back into the house to get his shotgun. He came running back out of the house, and into the pasture. Frank arrived in time. The cougar went to slice Belle across the, when………. BANG! Frank fired the gun. It hit the cougar square in the hindquarters. It left in a fit of blood and pain. By the time Frank arrived at Belle's side it was too late; the cougar had already killed her. Blue Boy was so sad that Frank had to lead him away with Belle's halter. Blue Boy Moped around for the next few days. Later that week the house caught fire. Frank was sound asleep when the house burned to the ground. Sadly, Frank didn't make it out. Jake and Blue Boy broke out and ran for the hills. Later after the fire trucks had left, they went back to see the damage. Everything was gone, except for the barn and parts of the fence. The two horses stayed wild in the surroundings around the house.

The years passed by and Blue Boy grew from a frisky colt, into a bold, strong stallion. Over the years the stallions had formed a herd from stolen mares, from the nearby ranches. His father had died in his sleep of old age, and now it was Blue Boy's herd. Today was a big day for him. He was siring his first foal. After he had finished his business; he could feel vibrations in the ground. The whole herd took off. Fat, men came riding up on horse back. They were tossing ropes right and left. One sadly settled around Blue Boy's neck.
