Not with a whimper
The sunlight pours in over the broken rubble and lifeless bodies. They had been hollow men in life, now they were empty with death. There is a chant on the wind, distant, solemn. They lie in this valley of fading stars. They had been lost, violent souls. Born in a dead land, dying in the same cactus land. Life is very long, but the dream was short. but with a bang.
I re-watched the ending, realizing that no other anime could every possibly take its place as my favorite. It was chance that my friend was reading the newspaper aloud, quoting somebody about going out with a bang. Instantly, it hit me. That's what Spike did. Then, I went and looked up T.S. Eliot's The Hollow Men, and was amazed at how similar it was to Cowboy Bebop, especially the star bit. Except for the end, that is. So I plagiarized them both. I hope you enjoyed it.
