No one knew exactly why, but Drake Parker liked orange things. He loved eating tangerines for breakfast and drinking orange soda with his lunch. Drake's favorite snack was cheese crackers and carrots.
He loved watching sunsets and enjoyed sunrises even if he did think that they came too early in the morning.
Drake had coffee every morning in his favorite orange mug and when he passed the pet store near his apartment, he always paused to admire the orange kittens mewling for attention. He couldn't help but be attracted to girls with orange hair or orange shirts.
When he was depressed, he munched on cheetos and wiped the dust off on his faded orange blanket. When he ate a peach, you knew he was deep in serious thought.
Drake liked orange and he never understood why, until he met his new partner. The first day he met JJ, the hyperactive man was wearing an orange sweater and shoes with orange laces to match. His partner was everything that personified the color Drake loved. Obnoxious, bright, loud, happy, yet comforting.
And then everything changed when JJ kissed Drake and Drake found that JJ tasted remarkably like oranges and his aftershave smelled like peaches.
Now everyone knew that Drake loved orange and could see why he loved the obnoxious color when it was exemplified through his lover.
It was a Saturday night when Drake put on his orange and blue striped tie and headed to the door when he heard the doorbell chime.
He smiled as he saw JJ standing there, picking him up for their date in an orange suit jacket and jeans
…and holding up a bouquet of carrots and orange daisies.
