Just Another Guess (Revised Edition)

She didn't understand it. She really didn't.

It was a black dwarf, for all the Gods' sake! It had burned out millennia ago! There wasn't a blasted thing there to justify all that traffic. Not one. blasted. thing.

Ikkara groaned. This whole problem was ridiculous. She wasn't even sure why the higher-ups cared.

And yet.

...wait. Maybe the best place to go... was actually the source. The question was innocuous enough.

Well. It seemed she was off to see the all-knowing, obnoxiously vague alien.

"So... why? Why there specifically?" Simple question, right?

Apparently not. The encounter suit turned to face her.
Paused.
And... spoke.

"We have always been there."

How helpful, she thought. Instead, she said, "Well. Thank you. That was most informative, Ambassador Williams."
