Sitting in Tomoeda Park, Syaoran was soaking in the scenery before him. This would be the last time he could freely step into Japan. He was now twenty-one and of age to be the successor of the Li Corps. The one person he wanted to see before he left to Hong Kong was not there. She was studying in Tokyo University. He would never have the chance to visit her again…
As he sat on the park bench his gaze shifted to the pair of swings. He remembered the time Sakura had been rejected by Yukito and he had comforted her. Eleven years ago, he had left this small town. He had left the same girl after he confessed his feelings to her. At the airport where she had suddenly showed up he had given her a bear that he had made.
Syaoran stood up and walked aimlessly to reach Cherry Blossom Lane. He missed the times when he had seen Sakura, his own cherry blossom glide through it. As Syaoran was lost in his thoughts a girl and ran into him landing safely in his arms. He moved his eyes downward to see the very existence that clouded his mind at the moment. Her angelic face was tearstained and her bright emerald green eyes were glossy.
"I don't want you to leave Syaoran!" she said as strongly as she could through her tears.
"What are you doing in Tomoeda? I thought you were at Tokyo U." Syaoran said unbelievingly.
"Dad called me yesterday telling me that you were leaving tomorrow and I came back as soon as I could. I don't want you to leave!"
"Sakura… you know if I had a choice I wouldn't leave but I don't. I can't choose."
"Please Syaoran?"
"I can't, no amount of begging is going to change it. This may be the last time I see you so… I want to tell you again that I love you."
As soon as Syaoran confessed he left the park. He didn't wait for Sakura's response because no matter what she said, it was no longer his choice of what to do in his future.
The next day he woke up groggily, he was going back to Hong Kong for good. He was waiting at the gate for his departure. Eleven years ago at this very gate where he had given Sakura the bear.
"Syaoran!" he heard a voice. He turned his head to see Sakura.
"Syaoran, eleven years ago you gave me a bear before you left as a token to remember you by. This time I'm giving you one." Sakura said and handed him a white bear with a fabric cherry blossom attached to its ear. Syaoran looked back at her. He hugged her tightly as if never to let her go.
"I'm going to miss you Syaoran; if you have any free time please call me or write to me."
"Will do Sakura," Syaoran said quietly as he looked at her retreating figure leave the airport.
THREE YEARS LATER
Syaoran was now twenty-four and standing at the altar. He was getting married to someone he had never met in his life through an arrangement from his mother. His heart still longed to be with Sakura.
When it was time to kiss the bride he looked down and to his astonishment, instead of a bouquet of well arranged flowers, she had a bear in her hands. He examined it carefully and realized it was the bear he had given Sakura when they were ten. He quickly unveiled her and leaned in and gave her a gentle peck.
"I love you and I missed you." Syaoran confessed quietly into Sakura's ear.
"I love you too Syaoran, I've always have." Sakura admitted as Syaoran lifted her up and walked back down the aisle.
That night they slept peacefully in each other's embrace. The two bears were together united on the night stand next to the bed in which the newly weds slept.
THE END
