The tunnel was dark and quiet, the only sound being water dripping into puddles. No movement. Everything was, still. When suddenly,
"Rodger, I don't think I can go much farther."
"It's not far now Tabatha. Please, you must try."
"I'm sorry." The one dropped to her knees, wrapping her arms around herself. Long white locks drooped over her face, hiding it from view, as she tried to regain her lost energy. A hand, pushing the hair away from the left side of her face, and suddenly, she was being picked up into a strong embrace.
"We must keep going." And with that, Rodger ran, carrying his love and ignoring the searing pain coming from the long bloody gash in his side.
The pure white walls of a hospital. Echoing claps of shoes on tiles as a man paced, running a hand through his light brown hair. He took a peek over at the clock, collapsing into a chair, and massaging his face.
Suddenly a woman walked in. The man looked up, a hopeful look on his face. With a smile, she gestured to the hall behind her and said, "They're waiting for you."
He followed, a wide smile on his face. They walked for a bit until coming to a door where the women stopped. She opened it and stepped back, allowing the man to go inside.
He smiled down at the other woman in the bed, going over and smoothing her dark brown hair while placing a kiss on her cheek. He heard a, ahem, before looking down at the bundle in her arms.
Two little eyes peered up at him from the small bundle, and a little arm reached up. Sticking out his finger, the man grinned incredibly and let out a small laugh.
"Oh Maria," he said, taking the child into his own arms, "He's beautiful."
"Of course he is Andrew," she said, a contented sound to her voice, "He's our son. I expected nothing different."
"Angeli."
The woman looked over, smiling as her husband walked up to her. He came up and, kneeling down, laid his head on her swollen belly, earning a chuckle from his wife. She tapped him on the shoulder and he looked up.
"I take it your happy?" She asked, laughing as she gained a nod from the man. As he lay his back down, she couldn't help but find herself gently rubbing her hands over the area his right ear should have been. A sigh escaped her lips, but her smile remained.
The man looked back up and received a light kiss from the woman, making him smile even more as well.
"I love you Sanders," she said, looking him in the eyes, "You know that right?"
"Of course." He replied, laying a hand on the side of her face.
So yeah. All of this craziness will make more sense later. If you saw the Motorcity kitty versions of the Burners parents on Tumblr then this might make more sense to you. Might add in Dutch and Julie later. Still thinking about it.
