The battlefield was set, Azula and Ozai on one side, the Avatar and gang on the other, the final showdown. Azula set her icy glare on Ty Lee and Mai, and then moved on to the Avatar, sneering at her brother, Zuko, scowling at Katara, and threatening Sokka and Suki with lightning.
Azula lunged towards the Avatar but was blocked of by her fathers' strong armor clad arm. Glaring at his calm but stern face, Azula fought the urge to hurt her own father then and there. "Azula, be patient and calm yourself, you must attack at the right time." Her father said, calmly. "But, Father!" Azula exclaimed, almost begging. "Silence yourself Azula!" Ozai shouted to his daughter. "You will take on the waterbender and your brother; I will go in for the Avatar and the others." Ozai said, dropping his arm and advancing forward. "Dad…" Azula said hoarsely. "Whatever you do, please don't hurt Mai or Ty Lee too severely." Azulas' voice was barely a whisper. Ozai seemed shocked, but nodded. With that, Azula readied her lightning and aimed towards Zuko, and released. Unfortunately, her brother was already beside her and directed her lightning towards Ty Lee; the bolt blasted the young acrobat about several yards away into a marble pillar. "Ty Lee!" Mai and Azula both shouted together, a shocked and worried expression on each face. Mai readied her daggers and aimed towards Zuko. "I'm sorry, Zuko. But you injured Ty Lee." Were Mai's words before she released the knives with precise accuracy and watched Zuko fall to the ground in pain before running to Ty Lee and calling Katara over to help Ty Lees' pain. Zuko slowly got up, yanking the knives from his body and was just in time to block Azula's punches and kicks. "You bastard!!" Azula shouted, her wrist now locked in Zuko's larger one. Trying again with her other fist, but was caught as well. Her only resort was to use her legs, but still keep balance. "Damn it!" Azula muttered as Zuko kneed her in the torso, blood came out of her mouth and settled on her chin, few drops fell to the ground. "Zuko, I…Hate….everything…..about…..YOU!" Azula yelled in fury as her forehead crashed into Zukos' When this happened, Azula felt like her head was exploding, she opened her eyes if barely and the veins in her neck popped out and her teeth clenched in pain. Reality rushed back when she heard Zukos' agonizing scream. "AHHHHHHHGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Zuko shouted in agony, releasing Azula's wrists and clasping his hands over his forehead. Azula was still standing, if barely. Her head hurt like hell and her vision became blurry and she could feel herself falling. Katara, despite being her enemy, saw this happen and rushed just in time to catch the fire princess. Katara and Mai dragged Azula and Ty Lee to a safe spot on the battle field, about 15 yards away from the fight. "Thank you, Katara." Mai said, her eyes on Azula and Ty Lee, concerned. "You're welcome." Katara said, slightly stunned that her former enemy had thanked her.
The battle continued and eventually Ozai was defeated, his bending taken from him by Aang.
Azula woke 4 days prior to the battle in the Fire Palaces' infirmary, her eyesight blurred and her head spinning.
