Title:
Dim
Pairing: Remus/Sirius
Summary: Sometimes
Sirius wants to be seduced by the dark. Sometimes he realises why
he'll never able to be.
The darkness spoke to Sirius sometimes, during the folds of midnight and dawn, when the soft snores in the dorm burrowed him further under his blankets. He'd lie there, tracing the stars through the ceiling, trying to think of anything else. He was entranced, hypnotised, and he thought, just for a moment, that he could fit in with them if he wanted. He could let it seduce him, as they had, the thick veil of everything he could have ever wanted casting shadows over the world like snow. He would sigh, and his eyes would ache, pummeling them furiously with the backs of his hands to make it go away.
But he'd still lie there, hating himself a little more, waiting for dawn to throw it's dim light through the window. Setting the red curtains ablaze, he'd feel at home. And as it trickled over Remus's foot, and his bare fingertips, hanging off the mattress, he'd smile. And realise he could never be like them. He could never be like them because of love.
