It's a peaceful day at Sacred Heart. Patients are happier than usual, there have been no codes or crashes so far, and even Dr Cox is in a better mood than usual.

"Get out of my way, Newbie!" Dr Cox grunted, shoulder shoving JD. He stormed past

At least there have been no girl's names so far! Yep, everyone's doin great! And even better, my shifts over, so I can go to the doctor's lounge and relax while I wait for Turk…

JD turned a corner, and stopped dead in his tracks. A bunch of people were standing in the doctor's lounge, all glued to the TV. Turk was standing next to Dr Cox, and seemed to be muttering something under his breath. Elliot was breathing quickly, and biting her lip, with clenched fists which hung loosely at her sides.

"What's going on?" JD asked the Janitor, who was leaning on his mop.

"Elections…" Janitor muttered, staring at the screen. Then he turned to JD, and narrowed his eyes suspiciously. "Why? Because I'm a Janitor you think I don't have a say in the future of our country? You sicken me!"

"I didn't say anything of the kind!"

"Watch it, doctor boy…" said Janitor, and he turned back to the screen.

"Go republicans!" yelled Laverne from a corner.

"Vote Obama!" Turk yelled back.

"McCain forever!" shrieked Elliot.

"America needs democracy!" roared Dr Cox.

"I should go…" JD mumbled.

Ok, so I didn't have a clue about politics, but I knew this was a dangerous game to be playing…

"America needs President McCain!" replied Elliot to Cox's comment.

"McCain isn't, and shouldn't be, President!" said Turk.

Yep, I really ought to go before I get caught up in this…

"Hillary? What do you think?" said Cox, and immediately all eyes were on JD. JD shuffled his feet, and looked at the floor.

"Umm…"

"It's a simple question, JD! Who did you vote for?" asked Elliot, with a pained expression.

"Um, I didn't…"

"JD!" Elliot shrieked, and Dr Cox sighed in exasperation.

"Oh my god, Sarah, I-"

"Be quite!" Turk interrupted. "It's starting!"

The whole room held it's breath, all staring with hungry expectation at the anchorman on screen.

"Barack Obama was announced the new president of the United States of America…"

Then there was uproar.

"YES!" yelled Turk. He leapt up on the couch and started doing a cocky victory dance, and after a while Dr Cox joined him.

"Obama forever!" he yelled. On the other sighed of the room, Elliot had begun to cry, and Laverne comforted her.

"He won! That's right, baby!" yelled Dr Cox.

"Shut up! McCain totally deserved that!" shrieked Elliot.

"Yeah he did!" chimed in Laverne.

"Obama won! In yo face!" grinned Turk. Elliot snarled.

Uh oh, Elliot looks mad. I should say something to break the ice…

"Banana hammock!" JD yelled. Immediately the previous uproar went silent, and everyone stared at him.

"Obama…wooh…" muttered JD. He turned on his heels and swiftly exited the room.
