My late fourth of July fic. Percy and Annabeth are like 22...

Percy POV

Why am I so nervous? I'm just asking Annabeth to the fireworks. It's not like she'll say no! It's just the most important couples event of the year! Not helping, Percy. Why am I so nervous? Oh wait, I know why I'm so nervous. But I'm not gonna tell you. I'm confusing myself. Well, I guess I better go ask. I decided to go look by the training area.

"Annabeth!" I called out.

"Percy?" she shouted back. I followed her voice and found her by the battle arena. Apparently she just beat Piper in a match. I walked over to her and kissed her sweaty forehead.

"Annabeth?"

"Hmm?"

"Wanna go to the fireworks with me?"

"Hmm... Sorry, I'm already going with somebody."

I stared at her in confusion. "Who?"

"A Seaweed Brain who thought I would say no," she smirked at me. I must have looked pretty confused because she just laughed and poked my chest. "You, Kelp Head!"

"Oh... Well, okay then! See you later, Wise Girl!" I kissed her cheek and started walking back to my cabin.

"You too, Seaweed Brain!" she shouted. As I walked away I patted my pockets to make sure I didn't lose the little box that would change my life.

Annabeth POV

I put in my owl earrings and sat down. I was wearing a grey, knee-length dress that sparkled in the moonlight, black ballet flats, and a little bit of lip gloss. My hair was in a half-up half-down style. I waited in silence for a couple minutes until I heard a knock on the cabin door.

"I'll get it!" I shouted to my siblings. I walked through the different rooms until I reached the front door. I opened it to find Percy waiting for me, holding a bouquet of roses. As soon as he saw me his jaw dropped open and he stared at me. I giggled.

"Close your mouth, Seaweed Brain. You'll catch bugs."

He nodded and closed his mouth. "Umm... You look... Beautiful."

I smiled bashfully. "Thank you. Let's go." He handed me the roses and I thanked him with a sincere smile. He took my hand and we walked to the fireworks. When we got there he got out a blue blanket and set it on the ground. He sat down and patted a spot next to him. I sat down and he put his arm around me, pulling me closer. Then he pushed me down so we were lying next to each other. Soon enough, the fireworks started. The Hephaestus cabin really outdid themselves this year. They had all kinds of colors and patterns. I smiled at Percy and he kissed my forehead. We kept watching for a while until and Percy was sweating. I wonder why. I looked up and saw a beautiful display of silver firework that spelled out the words,

Annabeth, will you marry me? -Percy

I started crying and my Seaweed Brain helped me up. He got down on one knee.

"Wise Girl? Will you marry me?"

"Oh my… Yes!" I cried. Percy slid the ring onto my finger and I tackled him to the ground. I could hear the Awws! from the Aphrodite children. But I ignored them. All of the sudden a couple pairs of strong arms lifted us up and carried us to the canoe lake. Once I realized what was happening I started laughing and I hugged Percy for dear life. The campers threw us into the lake and Percy made us an air bubble. Lets just say, we shared the second best underwater kiss ever.
