Dinner Date
Jordan Hampton groaned as a cellphone vibration woke her from much wanted slumber. Her sweet slumber was disturbed by an urgent case.
When she arrived at the crime scene she found multiple bodies all requiring immediate autopsy, those added to the backlog she already had meant she was certain that she was going to miss her and Donny's dinner date that coming evening.
Donny was understanding and forgiving when she cancelled. Being in the same field than her, he more than understood, though Ducky was working at the federal level so he got the benefit of an assistant whereas Jordan did not.
Jordan tried not to get upset about the rain check, but it was the second date they had cancelled in as many weeks. The other cancelation had been due to NCIS getting a case. Jordan was beginning to wonder if it was all a sign that despite her and Donny's affection for one another their jobs meant they were incompatible. She tried to force the negative thoughts from her head, and focus on her work. But they lurked and her mood darkened.
She returned back to her apartment almost twenty four hours after she had left. She was exhausted and mentally drained; one of the bodies had an anomaly which had taken extra investigation, another body had been that of a child.
She unlocked the door to find her lights on. She was certain she had turned them off. She walked into her lounge and found Donny sleeping on her couch with a meal laid out on her coffee table. Ducky slowly woke up.
"Oh, Donny," Jordan whispered.
"I thought I could bring dinner to you," Ducky whispered as he woke up rubbing his eyes. "I am afraid it is not much,"
"It's perfect," Jordan replied. "Thank you,"
