BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP
Ugh... Can't my stupid alarm clock shut up?!
Realizing she had no choice but to wake up, a black-haired girl quickly rolled over - and fell straight out of bed.
The alarm clock continued its loud and annoying beeping as the girl lifted herself up to turn the stupid thing off. I've got to get a quieter one someday, she thought in frustration when she felt her ears ringing.
Her mind instantly drifted to what her plans were for the summer. Excitement instantly flashed through her when she realized that today was finally the last day of school, and in a week she would be in Florida with her annoying brother, Sam, and quiet sister, Lily. What a trip that would be, but she still couldn't wait for it.
The tiredness immediately left her as she thought about ideas for stuff to do over summer vacation, and she whistled softly as she combed through her knotty hair. When she was done, she put it up in a high ponytail - something she did almost every day - and picked her outfit for the day. A basic pink sweater and yoga pants. The girl was never one to be too revealing like most people her age; she mainly liked to stick to sweaters or plain t-shirts.
"Daisy!" a voice called from downstairs. The girl huffed when she recognized her mom - she did this everyday, didn't she realize she had an alarm clock?
Shrugging, Daisy walked downstairs to the kitchen, her stomach growling at the thought of breakfast. "Yum," she said aloud, staring at the pancakes that were placed on the glass table in front of her.
She sighed in annoyance when her two dogs raced toward her, obviously wanting her food. "Bear, Teddy, leave me alone," she grumbled in a mouthful of pancakes.
When Daisy was done, she gave the last piece to Bear and Teddy, making sure to split it in half so they could share. She then looked at the clock, and her heart nearly stopped. It was 6:50 - school would start in ten minutes.
"Bye, Mom!" Daisy yelled as she darted to the door, forgetting to grab her backpack. Her heart was racing as she sprinted through her backyard - that was a good shortcut to her high school. It took at least 10-15 minutes to get there, so most likely, she was going to be late. And on the last day, too! Just my luck.
Finally, she reached the street and walked up the path that led to the huge, brown building. Daisy frantically checked her watch again - she was panting heavily and wanted nothing more than to collapse on the nearest bench. As you could probably tell already, she wasn't a good runner. Of course, it said 7:03. She was late.
Suddenly, something in the distance caught her eye. Daisy tilted her head in confusion, then took a step back in shock when she saw what was placed on the ground directly in front of the school.
It was a bomb. Without giving herself time to think, Daisy turned and sprinted away from the place as fast as she could. I don't care if I'm tired; I'm not going to die! Who on earth would put a bomb there in the first place?
Unfortunately, she heard an explosion from behind her - too late. Daisy's heart pounded harder when she realized that she was most likely about to die. She let out a scream, because that was pretty much the only thing she could think of doing right now besides running like hell.
A piece of wood hit her in the face, and everything turned black.
In her dream, she saw stars. Endless stars that seemed to go on forever; she felt like she was floating in space. The strange thing was that they were flickering different colors - blue, red, yellow, and even purple. Is this heaven? she wondered, realizing that the explosion had probably killed her. But for some reason, she didn't feel afraid. She felt safe.
Suddenly, a light appeared in front of her, and she blinked furiously to try to adjust to the sudden brightness. Daisy tried to move away, but she realized she couldn't even control herself - she was frozen in her spot. What's happening?
Finally, the light disappeared - and in its place stood a strange creature. I must be dreaming. There's no way a Gardevoir from Pokemon can be standing right in front of me.
Daisy closed, then opened her eyes again, expecting to see that she was perfectly safe in front of her school, but the Gardevoir was still there, watching her. Where am I?
The Gardevoir simply smiled. "Do not be afraid, young one," she whispered. "There are many creatures in this world, known as Pokemon. You are not alone. You do know what Pokemon are, do you?"
Who are you and what am I?! Daisy tried to speak, but no words came out. She just stood there with an open mouth and her eyes wide with shock. This couldn't be happening - this had to be a nightmare. She would wake up perfectly safe in her bed and everything would be back to normal. Okay, listen, Gardevoir. I'm not a Pokemon - I'm a normal teenager living a regular life. I don't understand why you're here telling me all this.
"Believe me, Daisy," the Gardevoir explained, "and you can help us. You can become strong; you can save the worlds from being destroyed."
What are you talking about? What do you mean, I can help? What kind of Pokemon am I going to become? Daisy stared at the Gardevoir as if she was nuts. Are you messed up in the head?
"You will be an Umbreon," answered the Gardevoir, ignoring her last question. You will form a rescue team with another Pokemon and save the world. Believe in yourself and you will be safe."
An Umbreon? Daisy could hardly believe what was happening. She didn't really care for Umbreons - they weren't her favorite Pokemon. She had heard of one, and thought of them as cool, but she honestly didn't know what they had to do with her personality. None of this made sense.
"Yes, an Umbreon. If you can prove you're strong and worthy, Daisy, and your destiny is fulfilled, you will either die or turn into a human again. Or if you choose, you may stay as a Pokemon. We'll see. Farewell, my friend. May we meet again."
Wait! Why did you choose me?! What do I do? Are you sure I'm good enough? I-
Daisy couldn't finish her sentence before the Gardevoir disappeared and she was sent into darkness again.
