Everywhere Clark looked, all he saw was ice, snow, foggy opaque skies and kryptonite.
He thought of going back to the building he was just trapped in because every step he took, he just felt himself getting weaker and weaker. There's no way I'm going to make it home through this he thought. If only there were a way for someone to find me or for me to tell Chloe my location so she can find me, Clark thought hopelessly yet desperately.
He was a mile or so from the facility when sirens started to blare and red warning lights were blazing outside the door where he came from.
They found out that he escaped!
Clark frantically tried to find a way to get to some shelter. But he could barely walk with all the kryptonite around him. They're going to find me, he thought with exasperation. This is it. I'm dead.
No more Lois. No more Chloe, Oliver and the team. No more Metropolis and Smallville. No more farm. No more Mom. No more Superman.
He collapsed onto the ground, succumbing to the kryptonite all around him. He crawled and clawed himself across the ground. He could hear cars screeching out of the building parking structure. He could hear people yelling as his hearing ability went in and out of focus.
He stopped and laid on his back with his eyes to the neutral sky. He started to feel such strong emotions. The anxiety in his heart was too much. His hands were shaking. Tears were starting to well in his eyes. As he closed his eyes to let a few drops escape, he had a memory of her.
Clark, what we are doing here, Lois asked. Clark was leading her into the barn, his hand grasping hers. It was late at night. So late that the night sky at the farm looked like a black river with silver sparkles. It was cold and the barn was damp after the early evening storm. Clark stopped in the middle of the barn and then turned around to face Lois.
Lois, Clark said full of nerves. I'm the Red-Blue Blur.
Clark could still remember the look on her face as he told her. There was so much energy, anxiety and nervousness that were coursing through his veins. The relief that he felt when he heard her say, I love you Clark Kent, was indescribable. The look on both of their faces. The embrace and kiss that they shared. I love you too Lois. Clark felt like the luckiest and happiest man in the world.
The memory ended and Clark's eyes snapped open. A strength that came from some un-foreseen, impossible place enveloped him and he got up and started to run. They didn't find him yet. He still had a chance. He had a chance as long as he was alive. A chance to be Superman again. A chance to be back with Lois. A chance for their love.
