Summary: After a big fight with a new enemy, sent by Eagle, Ascot is losing Umi. He is just there for her by her side. Very depressing to read.

The Magic Knights were once again, called on Cephiro, to protect it from Eagle's minions. Eagle had decided he would try to be Cephiro's Pillar once more. The last time Hikaru met Eagle, she tried to dissuade him from his want to be the Pillar. Eagle had seemingly agreed to it, yet now, he sent minions to Cephiro, wanting to claim the Pillar's position for himself. So Eagle fooled Hikaru and she believed his lies. And so now, there they were, fighting Eagle's servants.
Umi first used her water powers on their enemies, yet they had zero effect on them. They were water-resistant beings. Their opponents took the chance to attack Umi, the Magic Knight of Waters. Umi was hit and wounded by an incredible force, something none of them have never seen before. Hikaru and Fuu both tried their powers on them, but theirs didn't work either.
So Ascot, Ferio and Lantis went to get them, and they all retreated to the Castle to heal. Fuu could not use her Healing Wind, since she was also lightly wounded. Only Hikaru didn't get hit by the enemy's powerful force.
But Umi, the first one to fight them, was fatally injured and unconscious and Ascot was now by her side, trying to talk to wake her up:
"Umi-chan, please,… don't...! You can't leave me alone..." Ascot said between hiccups and sobs. He couldn't bear losing his Umi, the only one who had accepted him and who didn't consider his pets to be Monsters. He was rocking her back and forth gently.
"Clef, is there any way to heal her?" He asked apprehensively, waiting impatiently for his answer.
"Ascot, I healed her physical injuries, but I don't know why she won't wake up, maybe Mokona will have some idea on how to heal her mind."
"Thank you, Master Clef, but I can't leave her. Could you please?"
"Yes sure." Clef went to see Mokona and asked him about Umi's situation. "Why is she this way? Is there any way to heal her mental health?"
"I'm afraid not, we tried everything we could, and she might be dying inside too, but don't tell Ascot anything about it."
"I'm going to tell him the truth, not going to lie to him about Umi."
"As you wish, Clef." Mokona sighed. It was truly regrettable, losing a protector of Cephiro.
As planned, Clef told Ascot Umi might never wake up from her sleep, and that she was in a coma forever.
"I'm sorry, my boy, for your loss, but we can't do anything more for her."
Ascot didn't cry, he just never left Umi's side, his gaze always on her slender sleeping form. From time to time, Hikaru and Fuu also visited their friend. Physically, she wasn't scarred, but her mind did not function anymore. He sometimes talked to her:
"Umi-chan why…?! Wake up, wake up!" But his shouting didn't work on her. She was mentally really dead. Everyone on Cephiro tried to console him, but he was still, after 10 years, by her side.
