Sirius looked at Mary and Marlene with contempt who were sitting across him at their huge circle. "Still hating what I gave her?" James asked a bit quietly that only two of them could hear it. They were seating at the quad trying to review for their finals. All Sirius did was grunt which made James just shrug at Remus and Peter.

"He's just so cute!" Marlene gushed and took the kitten and hugged it. "He sure is." Mary agreed as Lily arrived and took a seat next to her friends. "Hello, little guy!" The redhead greeted the kitten by scratching its head while Marlene is still holding it on her arms.

"How can we bloody study if all of you will just play and cuddle that damned cat!" Sirius finally shouted in frustration. Twelve pairs of eyes look at him in surprise and Sirius glared at all of them. "It's just a kitten, mate. What has gotten into you?" James asked. Sirius shook his head. "Forget it." He stood up and stride away from his friends.

Marlene carefully placed the kitten, she named Carrot, at Lily's lap and looked at their friends knowingly. She then followed Sirius but with a little difficulty. Never can she match his long strides, which made her wish she was on her broom instead. Not even Sirius can outmatch her with his flying speed. "Sirius…wait up." Marlene yelled.

But as if he didn't hear anything, Sirius continued to the castle and immediately headed towards the stairs. Marlene picked up her pace. "Black, stop making me chase after you. What the bloody hell is your problem?" She shouted after him again. But it made Sirius walked even faster. Finally, Marlene had had enough of it. "Sirius Black, I swear if you don't stop walking right now, I will make you sorry you ever met me!"

Everyone in the corridor stopped and looked at them. There was a good ten feet in between the two of them but Sirius thankfully stopped walking but didn't look back at her. Marlene sighed with relief and stalked over the direction of the tall and dark haired bloke. "Come, let's talk." She took his arm and pulled but not without addressing the onlookers first. "Back to your regular activities!" She roared at them like the lioness that she is and everyone obeyed.

Sirius let himself be dragged to one of the oversized windows where Marlene stopped and faced him. "What is your problem?" She asked looking up at him expecting an answer. It was apparent that Sirius was still fuming mad about something Marlene can't seem to understand. After almost a minute of silence with Marlene's eyes boring into him, Sirius finally gave in. "It's nothing alright. It's just me being…me."

"You mean childish?" Marlene asked trying not to let the teasing tone drip into her voice. "Are you jealous of a kitten, Sirius?" Sirius glared at her. "I'm not! I just hate it so much. Out of all the animals, why the hell would James give you a kitten?!" Marlene can't help it anymore and a small smile appeared on her lips. "Ask him, not me. Come on, Sirius, it's a pet. Why are you so worked up about it?" She asked drawing him closer by pulling him by his robes' lapels.

He sighed. "I..I wanted to give you a puppy on our anniversary okay? I gave you the necklace on your birthday first because I thought you'd love that too. But now you have that stupid carrot and the puppy I planned to give you will just be an addition." Sirius explained not wanting to sound too whiny. Marlene can't help but smile even more.

"Okay, first of all, my little carrot is not stupid. Second, I do love your gift. Third, our anniversary is still six months away. Why are you planning that too far off in the future, that's not how the great Sirius Black is right?" Marlene teased. With a sigh, he just hugged her. "Do you really have to ask?"
