DISCLAIMER- A friend of my Nan's knows John Barrowman's family. Does that count?

...No, I didn't think so.

Ianto woke with a jolt and a hand on his shoulder. After quickly working out he wasn't about to be eaten he managed to peel his face away from the paperwork he'd collapsed on top of and groaned as he finally remembered why.

"Sleeping on the job, Mr Jones?" He could tell Jack was wearing his trademark grin, even if he couldn't see him.

"N-no. I was just…"

"Resting your eyes?" Ianto scowled and desperately tried to come up with some witty retort, "Of course, nothing wrong with an afternoon nap. Especially if it means you'll be more alert later…"

"Oh?" He cursed himself for not saying anything more, but his head was still bleary from the unscheduled nap and Jack's hand had started to move up from his shoulder, twirling a few strands of his hair round his fingers.

"Oh yes…you never know what might come up…" Jack's grin grew even wider and he almost purred against Ianto's ear "Anything could happen…"

"Anything, sir?" He could feel his heart start to beat just that little bit faster and all he wanted was for Jack to lean in just that little bit further…

"Indeed…" Instead of obeying to his silent wishes, Jack stood back up and transferred his hand to the back of the chair, "Tosh has got some strange readings on the Rift monitor. We need to be ready for anything to come through and attempt to blow up Cardiff. Which means you need to be awake…cos it's gonna be a long night," He spun round and was almost out of the room by the time Ianto finally gathered his wits.

"Oh, it's always a long night with you, Sir." Too late. Jack was already gone. Though he could swear he heard a faint chuckle as the door slammed behind him.

He really did hate Jack Harkness sometimes.
