Another Thomas rewrite, this time it's "The Runaway Elephant" from Season 7. Enjoy and comment.
All the engines on the Island of Sodor were excited. A new elephant park was being built.
Everyone was working hard to get the job finished on time.
Duncan was feeling impatient.
"Get moving slowcoach!" he puffed crossly to Rusty.
"You're the slowest engine on the line!" he boasted to Skarloey.
This made Skarloey very cross.
Later, he saw Rusty again at the new station by the elephant park.
"Duncan thinks he fast." steamed Skarloey, "but he's just a bossy boiler."
"Better safe than fast!" Rusty agreed.
Just then, Duncan arrived, and moments after Sir Topham Hatt arrived.
"Duncan, you are collect the elephant statue and take him to the park." said Sir Topham Hatt.
"Yes sir!" chuffed Duncan.
"This elephant is very important. You must be very careful!"
Duncan then puffed away.
When Duncan saw the elephant, he was surprised.
"But it's only a statue!" he said. "This will be a piece of cake!"
"You must wait for the break-van!" said the stationmaster. "This statue is very heavy!"
"Nonsense!" huffed Duncan to his driver. "I've pulled heavy loads hundreds of times."
"Then let's go Duncan!" said his driver. "We must be careful though!"
So they left... without the break-van!
But Duncan wasn't careful. He was impatient!
"We'll show the others how fast I can be!" Duncan whistled.
Duncan started to speed up, and soon was going faster than ever before.
His driver was starting to worry, so he applied the brakes.
But Duncan was out of control! He was scared because he had never gone this fast before.
People waved and cars tooted as Duncan went by.
Then there was trouble. A tractor sped by Duncan's line!
"LOOK OUT!" shouted his driver.
Disaster was avoided, just in time!
Then, they went by Rusty.
"Slow down, slow down!" cried Rusty.
"I can't!" replied Duncan.
Elephant Park loomed ahead! Duncan's driver made one more attempt to apply the brakes, but it was too late!
The statue flew through the air, and landed in the lake!
Luckily, no one was hurt!
In no time, Sir Topham Hatt arrived, crosser than ever.
"You didn't listen to me when I said to be careful!" he said sternly. "And now you have caused confusion and delay!"
"I'm sorry!" mumbled Duncan. He felt very embarrassed.
Duncan was repaired in time for the grand opening of Elephant Park, but was surprised to see the elephant statue still standing in the lake.
"Everyone loves the elephant in the lake!" said Lady Hatt.
"Hooray for Duncan's mistake!" cheered the other engines.
Duncan was very cross, and didn't say a word.
