Sergeant Dale Smith felt for the first time in his life that he was the luckiest man alive he had been seeing Louise Larson for just over a year and she had just given birth to his baby boy which they had decided to name Cameron Jake Smith.
Smithy entered the locker room to change into his uniform, as he entered he was greeted by Will and Dan.
"Morning Sarge how's the little one doing" said Dan spray deodorant under his arms.
"He is doing just fine I'm going to pick Louise up from St Hugh's on my way home" said Smithy. He quickly changed and headed to the briefing room. Once everyone was seated Smithy assigned everyone to their duties he was just headed out to his patrol car when Zain called to him.
"Smithy thank god I caught you Pete Larson just walked out of court a free man" said Zain.
"He what" said Smithy "how did he mange to get off we had him bang to rights"
"Some technicality any way I thought I'd better let you know he knows about the baby" said Zain. Smithy went pale and gulped.
"I've got to get to the hospital" said Smithy he dashed out to the patrol car and got in. ten minutes later he pulled into the hospital car park, parked the car and speed up to the maternity ward. When he arrived he went into the side room where Louise was sitting up in bed reading a magazine Cameron in the plastic cot fast asleep.
Louise looked up and smiled when she saw Smithy.
"What are you doing back" asked Louise.
"Your husband has just walked out of court a free man" said Smithy.
"You what" said Louise
"It get's worse he knows about Cameron" said Smithy.
"Oh no how the hell did he find out" said Louise scooping her tiny son into her arms.
"I don't know" said Smithy "But I an't gonna let him get near either of you"
Louise looked at her tiny son fast asleep in her arms and a tear rolled down her cheek she looked up at Smithy.
"I think we should get a DNA test done then at least we will know for sure if your Cameron's dad" said Louise.

Detective Inspector Sam Nixon entered CID in a fluster she had over slept which meant she was late dropping her daughter to school and late getting into the office. As Sam came flying through the swing doors to CID she crashed straight into DS Phil Hunter on his way out.
"Woa Sam look out" said Phil rubbing his nose where the door had hit him.
"Sorry Phil I'm running so late this morning" said Sam
"it's ok did Poppy get to school ok" said Phil.
"Fine but the answer is still no you can't have her not to night" said Sam Phil sighed that was the answer he always got when he asked about his daughter.
"Sam what is your problem with me ever since you found out I'm think of moving on you won't let me see Poppy" said Phil.
"I'm not having this discussion right now I have work to do and so do you" said Sam she picked up the last of her files and went into her office banging the door behind her.
