we will sit upon the rocks
And see the shepherds feed their flocks,
By shallow rivers, to whose falls
Melodious birds sing madrigals.
The Passionate Shepherd to His Love
Spring rose with the dawn. The air came crisp and cool; it greeted the grasses, the daisies and the early birds that flitted through the azure sky. Peaceful life this time could be described - at least for the bountiful nature. But, alas, for man (human that is) of the Enchanted Forest all wasn't well.
War became a commonplace yet again. Not ogre against man, but man versus man. After escaping Storybrooke's destruction, all returned to the Enchanted Forest only to be faced with a dastardly curse that crumbled the fragile alliance made in the Land Without Magic. Regina and Rumplestiltskin fought Snow White and Prince Charming.
The enemy children, Princess Emma and noble Nealfire (the name of which he chose when they returned) fell in love. In secret, the man proposed to the lady. Today was to be the wedding day.
Dressed in pale hunting clothes trimmed and flecked with golden, Neal waited by a stream in the heart of Fairytale Land's forests. Only the shepherds came to this spot to water the flock, but that event was far off. The only one with Neal, as he waited for his bride-to-be was Prince Thomas, who would be officiating. Cinderella was to be bringing Emma so that they may consummate their vows. What bliss there would be - if only for a moment.
