Rei Ayanami, In EVA unit 00, unloaded her assault rifle into the angel that was the first to appear since Third impact. However, it had absolutely no effect, it just ended pissing it off more."I can't kill this thing!" Rei cried, the angel picking up her EVA by the neck and slamming it into a nearby building.
"Send out Asuka and Shinji, hurry, Rei can't last like this!" Misato Katsuragi ordered screaming, unbelieving that nothing that Rei had tried had worked. Rei looked at the angel that appeared and hoped that she'd survive to hold Shinji to his promise to go to dinner with her. However, Misato couldn't find a suitable pilot for the newest EVA in they're arsenal, and holding proving to be almost impossible for now. The EVA didn't even look like the EVAs that were used now. She wasn't sure if it could be used to combat the new Angel.
Rei, forgetting she was fighting an angel, suddenly cried out in pain as it caught her EVA's arm and tried to rip it off. Just as Misato ordered Rei to eject, Rei noticed the new EVA, designated EVA Unit XZ, rushing to help.
'Who's in the EVA?' She wondered, a red haze choking her vision, 'Help me, please!'
Ryder was shocked by what he was seeing. An Angel that he created was attacking Tokyo 3? Of course, being dropped into Evangelion was just as nuts, and he believed he was dreaming it. Seeing as he was piloting the Eva he'd designed after Deathsycthe just out of his curiosity. But it was brought into painful reality as the Angel turned on him faster then he thought, grabbed his EVA by the neck, and slammed it.
'This thing's too fucking fast! I won't be able to get close enough !' Ryder thought as he kicked the Angel in the chest, getting it off him and watched it go through the same building it slammed Rei into moments before.
"This is Major Misato Katsuragi Of Nerv Headquarters, Tokyo 3 Division to the person piloting Eva unit XZ , state your name and why you've taken the EVA."
he heard over his communication unit. "No offence Major, But I don't have time to answer you, maybe later when I 'm done getting my ass handed to me." Ryder snarled, as he came up with plan. He had to end this fast because he stupidly created the angel with the ability to evolve and analyze threats to develop a way to neutralize them.
'That's it, it'll work.' he thought, as he helped Rei up. "Can you move Rei?" Ryder asked, jumping up holding Rei's EVA as he dodged a blast. "Yes, why?" the female pilot asked, pushing away from the other after she got her footing. Ryder took a moment to settle himself before saying, "One, we've got to blinded and make it deaf, two, it's weakness is the generator which is between it's shoulders, and three, we have to hit at the time or relatively at the same time." Rei gaped at her screen. as the other talked After he finish, Rei sighed glancing at her power cells. "Has to be fast." she said, sounding her neutral self. Ryder figured as much, so he said as much to her. When the angel went to strike, both pilots struck, a photo knife and sycthe to the angel's neck.
Hours later Misato had Ryder in a confrence room, grilling with the skill of a seasoned detective. And the only answer she got was a "I don't know any more than you." As her anger raged in her eyes, Ryder kept his reaction in check. 'Pissed and scared, not surprised.' he thought, as Misato stormed out of the room.
