The Truth About Rainbows And Other Realizations

Prompts Used: Rainbows, Prometheus Unbound, Song lyrics Realize by Colbie Caillat

Daniel stared up at the rainbow arching over the alien planet. Behind him was the ruins of Qetesh's temple. The walls were covered with a recognizable dark hair woman and he couldn't help thinking of Vala. She had come crashing into his life and flipped it upside down only to disappear quietly, leaving him alone again.

It was only after she was gone, he saw how perfect they were for each other. They were both bent but not broken and the two of them had been through hell and back. He'd meant what he said when he asked her to stay. He thought they'd maybe have a chance, that he could trust her. But now he was sure he'd never see her again, Vala Mal Doran was light years from here fleecing another mark. No she didn't want him, but he continued regretting her absence.

With a heavy sigh, he turned and headed into the temple. Drawing a deep breath, Daniel prepared to face the horrors that had been Vala's life and missing her all the more. "Come back to me, Vala." His plea echoed off the walls as he entered.

Light years away, Vala stood in the rain thinking of Daniel and staring up at a rainbow of her own. The trick of light mocked her, telling her how stupid she was to leave and that Daniel would never want her.

On her planet, they believed rainbows were a promise of better things to come. But how could a liar, thief and space pirate, expect anything better than the life she led. No, she had made her bed and she would lie in it, unfortunately, without Daniel.

When she met Daniel Jackson, there had been one small moment where she thought there was a chance for Daniel and her. He seemed to understand her and why she did things, even if she didn't . But she panicked, worrying about what she would do if Daniel decided he didn't want her. She was damaged goods, after all. And so Vala did what she did best, run before he hurt her.

She wondered where he was? If she located him, would Daniel meet her half way? Could they find a piece of common ground and create a new life from the ashes of their old ones? Would Daniel be the source of the peace she'd sought for so long?

Most of all did she want to, she would have to give up- Vala laughed.

No, it wouldn't be hard to give up this life. She was scraping by as it was. Stealing from "A" and selling to "B" while still running from "Z". No, she was tired of this life but she had no other choice.

Unless... Vala smiled as a plan began to form. Oh yes, she new the prefect artifact to get her close to Daniel Jackson and keep him that way. There were just a few things she need to acquire to put her plan into motion.

Turning on her heel she headed back to the gate. "Daniel Jackson, you'll never know what hit you."
