Sam had never thought he'd see the day they'd settle down at all, so he supposed he shouldn't have been surprised to come home from his job at the library one day to find Dean almost buried under what looked like a ton of planks.
"What on…?"
"It's called tongue and groove, Sammy."
"I can see that, but what's it for?"
"Gonna lay us a nice hardwood floor."
Sam rolled his eyes. He knew he should never have let Dean watch that 24h Do-it-Yourself channel last time he was laid up with a broken leg after falling off the roof…

BANG. BANG. BANG.
Who knew that the sound of a hammer could be so infuriating and no matter what he did he couldn't block it out.
"God, Dean ... how much longer?"
"Nearly done, Sammy ... nearly done."
Ten minutes later, much to the younger Winchester's relief, all was quiet.
"What d'ya think?" Dean asked. "Not bad, huh."
Sam stared in silence at the wooden floor masterpiece. No doubt about it his brother was certainly good with his hands. The countless hours spent fixing the Impala were a testament to that.
"What's up little brother? ... cat got your tongue?"

"It's awesome," Sam gasped, genuinely impressed.
"Yup," Dean grinned; "and 'cause I'm an awesome brother, who's just laid this awesome floor, you can cook an awesome supper to celebrate."
Minutes later, the griddle sat on the stove, two steaks sizzling merrily in it until Sam's sleeve somehow tangled around the griddle's handle, dragging it, complete with steaks, down onto Dean's new floor.
Biting his tongue to stem a tirade of obscenity, Sam snatched up the griddle and stared forlornly at the scorched black dent it had left in Dean's great achievement.
He really hoped Dean had packed away his hammer.
