Healing wounds
(Jawwies POV)
I silently cried in my room for the tenth time since I lost my best friend.
I'll never forget her scream of pain and agony.
If only I did something. If only I didn't let that demon sneak up on me.
If only I didn't convince her to come.
If only…my life is filled with 'if only' right now.
War blames himself as much as I blame myself, even if he won't say it out loud.
He was on his way here now.
He was trying to get me on the right track again.
I've been in my room ever since the funeral for her ended, which was two days ago.
'She knew what she was doing' War always told me, but I didn't believe him.
Even if she knew what she was doing it didn't mean it was the right thing to do.
I heard a knock on my door and slowly went to open it.
"Hi Jaw Jaw, how you feeling?" War asked me gently.
"Fine. Let's just get this over with. And don't treat me like a delicate flower." I snapped.
Even thought I still hurt deeply, I couldn't show any weakness. I wouldn't.
This was the way of Runescape.
We stepped into Varrock.
We were on our way to Yanille to do some thieving training. We could have teleported, but War wanted me to get some from air and take the long way.
I was glad I finally got my 99 woodcutting cape. I brought the hood lower across my face, to hide the redness.
War was sticking close to me, refusing to believe I was fine I'm guessing.
Suddenly something struck me.
I padded my pockets and felt something.
Yes it was there.
I took out a necklace.
It had a half-crystal on it.
Aklase had the other half on her necklace. They were much. Whoever put them on, then the necklaces would glow when the other person was near.
I sighed, sadly realizing that this necklace would never glow again.
War suddenly put his arm around me. I'm guessing he heard my sigh.
"She's in a better place." He pointed out.
"She would be here with us!" I suddenly blurted. "This necklace is all I have to remember her…I want her back. Why did you have to die…?" My voice was hardly more than a whisper.
We stopped walking and War embraced me. Obviously he didn't know the answer.
I jumped when I heard an earsplitting cry.
It was coming from the Varrock hospital.
I didn't realize till now we were right next to it.
"Sounds like new life in Runescape" War remarked. He sounded more sad then happy.
"One life lost, one life gained." I agreed sadly.
The screaming stopped. Now there was a baby crying.
"Sounds like it went well." War observed.
He walked ahead of me. "C'mon. Some training will take your mind off things."
I started to follow until I noticed something in the corner of my eye.
I looked down at the necklace in the palm of my hand.
It was glowing!
My necklace was glowing!
I looked around wildly.
It was glowing! Aklase is here!
But no one was there. Only the sobbing of a baby.
I turned my attention toward the hospital.
No…Can it be?
I started toward the door.
"Jawwie!" War called, snapping me out of my trance.
What was I thinking?
I couldn't just walk in there and say 'Hi! Is my dead friend hiding in here. My necklace says she is.'
My necklace must be broken.
She was dead. I couldn't change that.
"Coming!" I replied to War's call and followed him.
(3 Months Later)
"War wait up!" I called to War.
He had run ahead of me. And while we were in DRAGON territory.
I groaned. Wait till I get my hands around his neck…
I climbed up a hill to finally see him standing over a level 3 with dragon guts on both of them. Yuck.
He spotted me.
"Hey Jawwie, come see this noob I found!"
I took a step forward and felt movement in my pocket.
I took out my necklace and it was glowing!
It hadn't glown like that since…
I looked at the noob.
Could it be……..?
