RUN, ROSE TYLER
Why did Rose Tyler run?
She never used to make a habit of it. In fact, back at home the blonde had simply relied on the dash to and from work each day to meet her quota. And after the Doctor had whisked her away... Well, needing more exercise was never much of an issue.
That was different now. Now, Rose Tyler ran every day without fail; because it made her feel good, and strong, and gave her hope on those days where logic and reason won over fantasy.
It was the sweat that felt good, the pushing of her body until it begged for oxygen: her muscles and lungs screaming for air as her feet pounded on the pavement. It was sharpness of the air and the stitch in her side as she pressed onwards; the smell of grass and pouring rain on those nights where the sky opened up for her completely, beckoning to her... She'd only run under the stars.
It made her feel closer to him. With the wind in her face and her eyes closed she could sometimes imagine that she was on some mad adventure, running for her life yet again.
And her body would plead with her to stop.
And her mind would delude her.
And her heart would ache.
And her hand would reach out for a warm appendage that would never exist in this Universe.
It was in those moments, and those moments only, that Rose Tyler would allow herself weakness. She'd stop, hands on her knees, body heaving, revolting against her, wanting to vomit and faint and leave and stop. Stop everything. She'd collapse on the pavement, sobbing and pounding the hard surface in agony and anguish, cursing his name and this world that should have been perfect but could never be because he never existed here.
And then she'd pick herself up, puffy-eyed and broken, and jog back to her house where she'd eat something small and take a nap before going back to work.
Why did Rose Tyler run?
Because it made her feel alive.
