It's night as Eiji and Oishi walk back to Eiji's home. The stars are hidden behind clouds, and a sharp wind is biting through the air. Oishi has already forced Eiji to take his coat, because really, Eiji is too thin and too cold. Too cold to be walking home on a winter night like this. Though the arcade had been fun, and Eiji is still clutching the teddy bear that Oishi won, hugging it to himself.
Oishi can see Eiji's shivers in the dark, and he can hear the quiet shuddering of breath in the silence. The guilt stabs at him, and without thinking, he grabs one of Eiji's hands and attempts to warm him up.
Only, it doesn't work as well as he'd hoped, because Oishi is probably just as cold as Eiji. The wind has made his cheeks red, and Oishi quickens his pace with Eiji in tow. He's been to Eiji's house so many times before, and he's glad as he sees the familiar green door come up in sight.
Nothing is said when the two go in, and the light stays off. Eiji throws the grey teddy bear into the corner, where it lands neatly beside a brown one. Nothing is questioned when Eiji slips under the covers, still shivering, and Oishi goes and joins him, wrapping his arms around the smaller body.
Oishi and Eiji, they do everything together.
And somewhere in the dark, a brown bear topples, to fall on its side.
