Rose Gold
by SMYGO4EVA
Tokaku didn't know what to think. In spite of the fact, though, she knew that sitting on Haru's bed was what she needed.
This exact moment, with Haru sleeping beside her; it felt like a pleasant dream, and after all what she had seen and witnessed, the uncertainty of it all, this was quite welcome.
Even if it was a dream, was she certain that she wanted to awake from it? It felt so much more than just that.
Tokaku knew that this had to be real, even if it wasn't. Her head didn't hurt; her body didn't ache, and her wounds were healing —she felt almost renewed. What a feeling it was.
Haru had been through a lot, as the scars upon her body told every incident, every attempt on her life, and it was known. She seemed so innocent and naïve, but she knew, she knew that her life was on the line, and yet she still was determined to smile.
It was only a matter of time before they could walk around Myojo Academy in peace.
As Tokaku walked upon the campus during the day, with Haru by her side, she finally remembered seeing colors. Oh, there were colors. Yellow, yes, pink, blue, red, white.
Though she was the heir to the Azuma clan, more pieces began to fall at a leisurely rate: she had been taught to kill. But now she had sworn to protect Haru, to protect her with all of her being.
Tokaku gently took Haru's hand with her own. Her hand was so familiar and warm; she had almost forgotten. There were other things that she had missed; other things that were so important.
The sunlight…the smell of rain…rose-colored hair…Haru's eyes…
Her smile…
Tokaku had spent so much time in the unfeeling. She spent so much time in the iridescent cold that came with her bloodline, that she had almost never felt warmth of rose gold, the warmth of Haru, until now.
(A/N: This was my first time writing for Akuma no Riddle, so forgive me if there are some character inconsistencies.)
