"Uggggghhhhhh."
Five years of partnership and he'd never heard Kensi make a sound like that. Deeks looked up from the file he was writing in and looked over at her. She had her head buried in her hands, dark hair spilled over and covering up her face. All of her files had been pushed to the edge of her desk, leaving one empty spot in front of her, where she dropped her head and groaned.
"Too much paperwork, Kensalina?" he asked, grinning at her. She lifted up her head and stared at him miserably. Kensi looked tired, sick, and beautiful at the same time.
"I wish," she mumbled as she dug an aspirin out of her desk and swallowed it. Deeks immediately stood, looking concerned. Within a second he had crossed over to her desk and was feeling her forehead for a temperature. Normally she would have slapped away her partner's hands and ducked out of his reach, but Kensi didn't have the strength.
"You're burning up," he said. Deeks ran over to his desk and pulled out a chocolate. Handing it to her, he smiled and said, "Hang in there a second."
He rushed up to Hetty's desk, where she was reading a copy of Romeo and Juliet. Probably first edition, no less.
"Yes Mr. Deeks?" she said without looking up from her book.
"Kensi's got a fever. I was wondering if I could..."
He trailed off as Hetty looked up over her glasses at him and smiled. She put down the book. "Take care of your partner, Mr. Deeks. I'll give you and Ms. Blye today and tomorrow off."
Deeks grinned as he rushed back over to his partner, who had polished off the chocolate bar and was searching for more in her not-so-secret stash. "Thanks, Hetty!"
She watched from her desk as Deeks went to Kensi. He picked up her bag, slinging over his shoulder, and closed her junk food drawer. Then he helped her up and led her out of the bullpen, her arm around his neck for support. Smiling, Hetty picked up her copy of Romeo and Juliet and continued reading. But the classic book wasn't nearly as interesting as the love story in front of her.
That was really fun to write, especially the ending from Hetty's POV. I hope everyone liked it. Feel free to leave a review! (just nothing vulgar and no profanity).
